I have owned an LX708 for 1 year and I LOVE it. I’m a former local band keyboard player, but this piano is FUN. The 12 string guitar is amazing, the Jump Brass sounds identical to Van Halen “Jump”. 60s Organ has an authentic Doors sound...it’s just a lot of fun if you can afford it. Replaced my upright piano and I never looked back. Lastly, the Piano action and sound is amazing...similar in feel to a large grand piano.

Great review! This really makes me think about picking up playing the piano again (last played it 20 years ago). Cheers from the Netherlands.

I must say, Rudi is a brilliant demonstrator and above all, savvy and knowledgeable in his field. We are very thankful that he does do research prior to demonstrate and yes, educate us in many ways of what we'd expect from that piano or keyboard we're looking into purchase. Thank you Rudi and please demonstrate the Kawai Novus NV-5 when available at your disposal please.

I'm waiting for the Kawai Novus NV-5. I believe this Roland is a brilliant piano too alongside the Yamaha AvantGrand N1x. Thank you for the brilliant review

They should be giving three models like other manufacturers. But I do like Roland's pianos, I own an hp605.

Thanks Rudi, great review! I have a question: Can the Roland LX-708 also be used as a midi-controller? So, can it be used to connect via midi-cables to a computer to trigger a sound library? And can that be done live (in the moment) or can you also save a midi-file from your playing and feed that file later on to a computer sound library? Thanks and regards from Amsterdam The Netherlands

Rudi, thanks so much for the videos on the LX series. They were, pardon the pun, instrumental in my purchase of the LX706 today. Can you tell me how to get that European 2 Grand/pad mix you demonstrated? I can already tell that will be one of my go-to sounds. Really cannot wait for it to arrive. So excited! Thank you once again for your demonstration!

Hi Rudi, What key action did you prefer between these new Roland key action or the Yamaha NWX present in the P515?... Thanks!...
@bettermusic5 жыл бұрын
I really like the P515 action and in the P515 in particular it feels great. The action in the LX708 feels different though and you can feel the extra length in the mechanism. For classical style playing and smooth legato playing I like the Roland action, for fast funky and jazzy styles I prefer the P515. Would be happy to live with either though. 🤘🏼

And this new Roland key action feels much different than PHA-50 in FP90/RD2000?... Thanks a lot!...

I'm still trying to decide between the LX708 and CLP785. How do they compare? I keep going back and forth in terms of which one has the most realistic acoustic piano sound.
@robertneirynck31862 жыл бұрын
Hello, what is eventually your choice. I have de same p^roblem, because I am very fond of the Bösendorfersound on the CLP785, a genuine Bösendorfer is out of my reach.

@@robertneirynck3186 CLP785, no regrets. Balad grand is best for what I play.

Hi Rudi, Did you try to play with sound settings or you re always using default? I found out that I am always coming back to European Grand V2 with soundboard 5, and the default settings sounds odd now to me, like too muffled. Your playing though, I forget about all of the settings 😄 did you record by USB?
@randallkrall18044 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed, to me the all 3 of the LX series sounded muffled to me. It felt to me like the sound was being blocked or baffled by the front mounting of the speaker box. To put it bluntly, the sound wasn't "in my face". A real disappointment as I have an RD600 Stage and XP 30 synth. Have had those for 20 years now!! But no kidding I was really disappointed. I went to the Yamaha dealer the same day and tried the CLP685 and played a few tunes...bingo! Bought it right away and got it about $2,000 Canadian cheaper than the Roland 706!!! I am really thinking that Roland made some type of extremely bad sound designing mistake on these models. I still love all my other Roland keyboards and equipment. Enjoyed your demo and playing though!

Hi, Rudi. Are you sure that the piano sounds are based on the European and American Steinways? The reason I’m asking is that I ordered one and should be getting it around October and you are the only one who claims this.
@Em_Dee_Aitch3 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard that it’s based on a cross between a Bose and a Bech.

How does this compare to say Yamaha nu1x or the Kauai cs11? Action and sound wise? Which one out of those 3 is the best choice for someone who wants to play classic piano pieces and movie theme songs?
@bettermusic5 жыл бұрын
Hi Pieter, CS11 is now an old model with superseded sound technology. The LX708 sound engine is a lot more detailed and realistic than the CS11, being the latest generation. NU1x is a bit different as is a lot more expensive sue to the real hybrid piano action. Sound however on Nu1x is not anything above these other contenders. LX708 will do everything you like and allow you to interact with its app Piano every day which is great. Cheers - Rudi

I'd say neither. It's a Roland Digital Piano action. But it is made to mimic the feel and precision of a grand action.
