Roland MC-101 - How to use as a Sound Module within DAW

I have a question - what were the midi settings on your MC101 - my unit is nakinf sound error sounds on track 1 when I try any combination of settings with midi via USB. I am also not getting any midi input / output indications on the top right. I have everything set up as you explain but am not getting a good outcome at all. I am using an arturia plug in instead of ripchord...grateful for any advice.

Hello. Is it possible to get Ableton to tell my MC-101 to select an instrument from the 3600+ tones presets of MC-101 list for the clip (eg A-107, B-149, ...). It always plays the "INIT TONE" sound. I have tried to change "Bnk" / "Sub" / "Pgm" value in "Pgm Change" section of Ableton clip, but MC-101 ignore them. In you video (at 3:12) , I can see that you change the preset on the MC-101 itself, but I would do it in Ableton. Thank you. Regards

Yes, it will be 5 tracks, one for the whole track and one for each channel

Can you use Channel + / - button to switch between sounds in a synth/keytar that can do that and switch between track/channels in the Roland 101 the way you can with Roland Sonic Cell or Integra 7?

Hi there, Im experiencing a lot latency. Kick drum is coming in at 1/32 later than ableton midi clock. I’ve tried everything with the latency setting in ableton. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Would make so much more sense on iOS/Android. But that requires a generic/USB class compliant mode on the settings. Something that is yet to be implemented in the firmware.

For those that came wondering what audio channels map to which tracks, here's the answer since I didn't see it in the video itself. Channels are in stereo pairs, so make sure you are configuring accordingly rather than configuring mono inputs. This is also assuming you are using the vendor driver instead of generic. Generic only gives you the mixdown input. 1/2 - master out (mixdown) 3/4 - track 1 5/6 - track 2 7/8 - track 3 9/10 - track 4

Personally I think this machine is great but it lacks proper midi implementation to be considered a good sound module for a DAW. When Roland decides to improve that (I would like to see at least Program Change via midi) I will buy one (again). The sounds are great and there is a vast collection of them, the machine itself is really small and it doesn't take any desk space - and it sounds really good too. Im waiting.

MC-101 isn't sound module, it's a pocket groovebox. I would like to see them making updated version of XV-2020, but there is no way they gonna do this with MC-101.

I would have enjoyed seeing them Maximize the possibilities. Show us the magic possible. How many midi notes per clip? How polyphonic per clip? Show me a complete production transferred into the unit and played standalone later.
