Great update. Glad that Roland finally understands that frequently updating the software instead of abandoning the hardware will help them sell more of them. They didn’t fix all the bugs with the now discontinued Aira modular range.

It grows customer loyalty so that people buy from you over decades rather than getting frustrated and abandoning you after a few years, like we all did with Pioneer's Toraiz line. Keeping current customers happy for return business is a cheap investment compared to the mammoth cost of acquiring new customers, AND having to get over the barrier of lots of aggravated ex-customers telling newbies to avoid you (like we all did with Pioneer). Way to go Roland, more of the same. :-)

I know Roland's people read this channel. I've had an idea for MC707. The new scene linking is great. How about a Fraction parameter for the scene linking that you set to 1/4, 1/2, 3/4. Set to 1/4 that scene would only play the first 4 notes of the 1st 16 step pattern. The scene linking function could then be used for short drum fills. If you also add a 16 preset function to the Scatter function which are saved with the project, then add a Scatter Preset function to Scene Linking menu, you could automate the Scatter function for drum fills via the Scene Linking. And you could have 16 different fills per project, more than enough for most dance tunes, and all saved with the project.

1.) Side chaning compression isn't that important, and is really a shortcut way of achieving an effect that's doable in dozens of other ways and 2.) it took years to get metronome count in, which is sorta standard on any machine with a sequencer that has live input. I wouldn't hold your breath. Especially since it would require a very specific kind of hackery for a very narrow use. I'd recommend just getting a used nanocompressor since there's multiple outs on the 707. It's tiny, does what you want and doesn't cost a lot.

keep your fingers crossed, Korg keyboards have had that for years and Roland barely added that to just their JD-Xi groove synth in an update a few years ago, I don't know why they are so slow (or outright reluctant) at adopting side-chain compression, unlike Korg

For a long time I resisted getting Roland gear because of the reputation of not evolving the gear and letting customer down. It seems to have changed and with all the updates done to the MC-101, I decided to take the plunge a month ago. It's my first groove box and I love it! This 1.7 update conforts me in my choice and I am super excited with all that it brings. I may well get tempted into getting an MC707 as well 😅. Keep it up Roland!

Brilliant. There are more than enough scenes to do several mixes of the same tune using the scene linking. This is what we wanted Roland, thanks. That feature sorts out about 6 problems with the MC707. Please fix the issue with loading sampled drum kits from other projects (false out of memory error). Please add an 'all unused samples delete' function, a 'sample reorder' function to take out empty sample spaces, and a reverb and harmoniser/vocoder to the track insert effects. If you don't own an MC707, get one, used one for over 2 years and it's one of the best devices Roland have ever made.

Just got a mc707. I’m enjoying learning it! But i think it should have an undo option urgently and different pre designed chord progressions. The pre designed chord progressions are a must dor this type of machine. Akai nails that.

Hey Roland, if you're going to fix the drum compressor fault in V1.7, while you're doing it...on the Scene Linking menu add a parameter 'Scatter' with the option Off-16. When that Scene Plays it then automatically engages Scatter button 1-16 for that scene. That would be absolutely fantastic if you can do it. You could completely remix a tune just using the Scene Linking! Go on Roland!

Roland! Why did you enable Scene Chaining, but set a limit of 127 steps per scene? this doesn't make sense if you allow us to chain unlimited clips (with max 512 steps per clips) within a scene. Pls also enable "Next Scene" feature similar to "next clip" in the clip chaining mode, this will open doors to many possibilities.

Love the MC-707. Thanks for the updates. I wonder if Roland is working on integrating model expansions into the 707, like they did for the Fantom. Some of the reviews have indicated that this will be coming, but I've never seen an official statement from Roland. Imagine to be able to create and edit Jupiter-8 or Juno patches on the MC-707 - that would be the absolute killer Groovebox!

@@bigmoneysteppa .. Dont get me wrong the 707 is music production power house for sure... and the undo functions not a deal breaker for me & ive been able to cook up quite a few bangaz... BUT i would also love to do some elaborate mixtape medleys, hip hop remixes without having to use a computer... and with 60 secs sample time you cant flip 3 minute accapella vocals or create 45 - 60 minute mega mix medleys... If the 707 had the sampling capabilities like the 404 - Every lo-fi, boom bap beat making junkie would be snatching them off the shelves just for the increased sample capability alone!!

I only have one MAIN issue with the MC-707, and maybe this is the way it will be heard. Recording audio loops when MIDI-synced to an external device FORCES the MC707 to operate in time-stretch mode. Please please I need a way to permanently write this setting to OFF so that it doesnt garble all of my tracks instantly. (Pls)

Cool, and to be honest it was easy to hit the limits of the 101 due to lack of scene chaining. Lack of count-in was also an issue. Now finally can chain scenes and make the next number one smash hit. The re-sampling and export thing was also needed. I wish effects were more intuitive, it's a bumpy ride when applying effects the right way.

I really would love to see Roland release a synth editor and patch management app for Android and iOS. Actually, imagine a multi touch interface that allows you to see, edit, and organise etc. via tabbed pages... 1.all your synth parameters (the last one on screen touched could be controlled by the assignable knob), linked to a page of automation lanes. 2.sample parameters, management and pad assignments. 3.sequencer,piano roll,arp,chord, scatter programming. Imagine being able to drag and drop clips, label with on screen keyboard etc.

I ran into something that a few times using my NDLR with the MC-707 for some reason but it only ever happened on specific patches and I couldn't work out what the cause was. It's like note-off is being ignored or something.

Jezz, why there is no dedicated sequencer editor for these units, that would be really great. I wouldn't probably need any other unit till end of my days to drive all my synths. Maybe today is in fashion to look on those all blinking lights on pads but for me it is just a pain in the bottom. Oh and possibility to have clips in different BPM within the project would be great too.
