This Demo is one of the reasons the space echo and the JP-4 came on my list of dreams to realize owning... Today I am the proud owner of a RE-201 and a Jupiter 4... The RE-201 is a nice addition to beef up the sounds. Now that I own one myself, I hear that mine is a little less noisy... Little less wow and fluttery too... But every space echo has it's own story... mine must be from 1977, a good few years before I was even born, it came to this world... I have different tapes with it, the original Re-201 I think (hearing how it sonically acts) and some other tapes and two from echofix... Every time I use the Echo I clean it with some isopropyl alcohol... It is like teeth. Clean 'em wel, and you see (hear) the dfference... The Jupiter is in good condition, cosmetically and internally. I drove 1450 kilometers to get it... Straight from Berlin... Who knows what music it have produced... It very well may have been used for Punk... who knows... Sometimes when I move her much around troughout the house, it sounds different... Defenitely real analogue dicrete components... You feel that, every voice is a tiny little different... Like quadruplets... Very much the same, and different at the same time... In unison they shake my intestants, poly they can sound refined as some Victorians... I found a Promars (first) before the Jupiter, and while, in base it is a monophonic JP-4, it is distinguishly dfferent... Certainy when you use the second VCO... Detune, and there's some instant Alphajuno hoover in the house... It has CV/gate, so it listens to some other, newer stuff... Thank you for having me realize this...

Sure does, that's why I went with an echo fix ef-x3r instead. Beautiful sounds on the rolands but the noise makes it less useful in a mix.

I love your videos man... they're such a joy to watch. If I didn't buy some expensive preamps and wasn't in the market for more... I think I'd definately be looking for one of these.

@Desmaad just a random improv but thanks for the comparison to 2 great artists! Its an yamaha electric 5-string violin (has the lower c of the viola) ..Being electric means you dont have to worry about the "acoustics" of body so you can get away with adding more strings without detriment to the sound (as the sound is amplified externally).

@mokuchley Thank-you! The new boss space echo pedal is ok ..but does not compare to the sound of the original space echo. What I like about the re-201 /101 is the way the delay decays ..something not easily replicated in the digital domain.

If you ever come to Argentina, please bring your RE 201 and your violin and let's play some music... How much does a RE 201 cost in EBay? I've seem one for sale here around U$S1.200 ($6000 argentinain $). I may have one brought from abroad. Your videos are GREAT!

Lovely demo, but as I'm sure abetronic will agree, a lot of this sound is just the combination of the Jupiter 4's magical arp and the RE 201 lush delay. The violin is the nice touch!

My word.. How does anyone get to be this good at demonstrating instruments? This is totally groundbreaking. My god what a sound. You need to send this in to Warp Records. Do you have anything availible to buy? Music I mean.. This is as good as Ólafur Arnalds.

Superb!!! Was looking on youtube for different use of the JP4, I am on the point of bying one actually, but still doubting... Would have to sell Ju-6 and other stuff to get JP-4. What do you think comparing these? Your Space Echo does sound great to by the way, and playing violin too, makes this a real great piece of music!!! Very nice to see this kind (my kind) of music on the net!!! How do you rate JP-4 against Ju-6? Greetings!
@robertstickles2543
@robertstickles2543 8 жыл бұрын
JP-6 and JP-4 are very different machines. I'd say the JP-6 has less of a sweet spot but more sonic potential than the JP-4. JP-4 can have a massive soudning low end, and with LFO's that range from very slow (nearly 2 minutes for one cycle!) to audio range. JP-4's filter setup is simpler (non resonant HPF and a very nice juice resonant LPF) compared to the JP-6's multimode. You might be frustrated with the JP-4's 4 note polyphony -- in many cases I use the JP-4 in unison mode like a massive sounding monosynth and multitrack it.

Why does your "viola" have six strings? Isn't that more of a viol trait? Anyway, your piece sounds like a King Crimson/Jean-Michel Jarré collaboration.
