Came for an insight into the SH-4D, stayed for the mesmerising performance. I love how you stuck with the panpipe-esque main instrument for the whole piece rather than "showboating" with a bunch of different patches. You are a masterclass in staying on the right side of "just because I can, doesn't mean I should" school of thought. I honestly want to say that I felt a touch of Vangelis in the cool, calm simplicity in the way your arrangement gently and naturally evolved, peaked and winded down. I'll be coming back to this for another listen, to be sure!

Just got here by chance, and wanted to say this is an excellent demo of what this thing can do, outside of the usual (and to me, increasingly annoying) Dance and Techno demo's. It's like Tangerine Dream of the Franke,Froese, Baumann era and Klaus Schulze had a jam together. And all this coming out of this one little Roland box. No massive modulars necessary anymore 😉. If I didn't had so much gear already, I would buy one. Although, after hearing this, I may still be buying one anyway. Well done, Alba.

You know what? I have never tried the sh4d by itself! Awesome job! I always have it controlled with midi learn or something with the bluebox and blackbox. With the Drumlouge that combo with the microcosm and the lore works best for me. Wonderful job! I guess I need to pay more attention to what it can do on its own!
@rexcellencemagee6729 Жыл бұрын
You were in the zone Alba! I’m so glad I came across your channel! I have modular, Kronos, nautilus, Integra 7, tons, but I think the SH4d is THE coolest synth to come around in a long time! With the S1 it is real inspiration. I can’t believe all the ideas KZbin has provided me! You may have seen the gentleman that took a Sony Walkman and ran it through the Crave, I took that idea and ran it through the Roland E4 into the S1, it’s a brand new concept of me so I haven’t got to SH4D yet. Let’s just say it’s an interesting idea! I especially liked your use of ambient sequencing! It’s really early here so I can’t go play and wake everyone up, but I’m going to play with these ideas today! Thank you Alba!

This is excellent. I bought an Akai MPC One Plus 4 months ago to start my hybrid setup and I've been seriously eyeballing this as an expander module. Considering the fact that I already have some decent plugins in my MPC, 4 synth channels and an extra drum kit will work just fine

That was a great performance! Thank you for that. Have you used the SH-4d at all with a DAW? Or just as a standalone device? I'm on the fence, thinking that the sound quality seems good but not sure how much sound design possibility there is or how easily it fits in to a DAW workflow. Any insights..?
@AlbaEcstasy Жыл бұрын
Thank you! No, I am only using (my instruments) it as standalone. But the DAW integration is good and you can record all tracks separatelly via USB. CC-ing the parameters, externally, also will work.

You can do a lot more with the MC-707 (I don’t have it)(but I have the Jupiter Xm wich has the same engine). The sound of SH-4d reminds me of the SH-32, a bit gritty, but it mixes well with the ZEN-Core. But I like more the SH-4d vs the MC-707 just because its look: A LOT OF KNOBS! 😅
