Hey. So, this is my first attempt of doing some sort of "tutorial" on my KZbin channel. Honestly, you all probably know a lot more about the 404 than I do.... I do some pretty weird sounding music on the 404, and folks have asked for me to share some insights as to my sounds and textures...so, HERE IT IS! If you like this video, I'll attempt to do more.
So, in this tutorial (I hate even calling it that..) I take a sample that was recorded out in my yard, and I do some sound design with that sample. I made some percussion, I made some trippy ambience...
There is a jam at the end of the video.
I hope you enjoy!
Oh, and...GARBAGE DAY!!!!

I’ve seriously neglected my 404 since I got it last year. This demo has inspired me to get back to it. Most of the demos I’ve seen are just about getting that lo-fi hip hop sound. Using as a sound design sketch pad is way more interesting to me. Cool stuff!

@@Soniccurtain Just got my Mk2 on Tuesday and have been doing a lot of similar things to what you're doing here. Well, very different, but a similar approach. Hope you keep making all these jams and videos because it's been really inspiring.

This was the tutorial I was waiting for... The SP is great for the shear amount of samples and patterns it has but for me I wish it had a synth engine and chord mode... Your sound design work around is brilliant but a real labour of love.

Hey! Thanks for your support. I like to challenge myself with the sound design on the 404 since it's lacking a real 'synth engine'. I will do a video about some workarounds. I'm still fairly new to the 404 and discover stuff all the time. Then again, I am sure I'm only using this thing to 10% of its potential. Stay tuned!

I just connected my SP to an iPad and loaded up Cubasis3 and Wow! you can record all your patterns and midi and bounce it all back to the SP super easily... I haven't worked out midi clock yet thought but to be able to jam with an iOS synth on top of your beat and them resample it back into the SP is a game changer.@@Soniccurtain

You can also get midi to sync and get Stop/Start.. but it is quirky..@@Soniccurtain
