Thanks for the video. It’s obvious that the tm2 does an amazing job. How about Roland does a video with tutorials on how to assign trigger sounds to each trigger? For instance, using a stereo 1/4 Jack input on the tm2 with a split mono 1/4 Jack cable going into two triggers and assigning a sound to each of the trigger as separate entity. I hope Roland does a video showing how to do this because their instruction’s manual doesn’t do a good job from a layman’s perspective. Thank you.

1) 4 piece kit with no rims 2) I don’t think you’re meant to trigger a whole kit. It’s just for a little something extra.

Thanks for the review. I don't think that people completely get the point of it yet. It's a cool way to add electronic sounds to what you are doing acoustically without having to hit a separate pad. It's great for small gigging, where everyone is using mini-kits and you just want to fatten up your sound. I'm interested. I hate electronic drum for many reasons. They can be very helpful in certain instances, and I like this idea. The only thing that I don't like is the number of trigger inputs. There could be more. I would definitely try this though. One criticism in the video is about the placement of the pad on the tom. You know that's in the way.

it has 2 stereo inputs, and you can split them into 4 mono inputs. So, with the snare and bass, hes using them as mono inputs

Hello I have a problem with my RT30K and my TM2 module ... despite the tightening of my kick drum its padding, I have no sound when I hit gently (a little but not when I hit really light ...) I have yet set 35 senses and 0 theshold ... it's normal ? otherwise what should i do? thank

Hello! I have the Roland td 17 kvx and I have already made an extension to a third crash (crash 3) covering the AUX socket on the td17. I want to make another extension to a second floor tom (Tom 4) and that's why I got the roland tm 2 which has two triggers slots. can you tell me if the tm 2 can be connected to the td17 with a midi out cable? Also sounds with the sd card can I add from td 17 to tm 2 ?

soundattak.....So do I understand correctly,that the acoustic rim mounted triggers basically take the place of a microphone? And I can get just the pure amplified sound of my acoustic drum should I choose? Thus would serve the purpose of say a kick drum microphone and a triggered sound as well? Thank you.

It can replace a microphone giving you your desired sound, if in a small venue then it will probably be a mix of the natural snare sound and the sound source chosen, that is coming out of the Speakers ( PA ) , If you are in a big venue then the audience will just hear the chosen trigger sound out the front pretty much. For big productions you will find they mic up as well as trigger and blend the two. Also if a trigger mis triggers or fails you have a back up with the mics

I think it has already been asked but I'd like to get clarification... You have 4 triggers plugged into only 2 input jacks, I'm assuming you have to use splitters on each...but can they be programmed to put out different sounds. Obviously you would want the snare, kick and toms to all have different sounds. Does the stereo function of each jack allow this?

you have to use an insert Y cord...either a long cord made that way or buy a short insert cord that has 1 stereo 1/4" male and 2 1/4" female jacks and plug your cords from the pads into the female plugs...or I assume you could use a dual trigger pad with 1 stereo cord

it can't be a stereo splitter cause that puts out the same signal from both sides...you want to split it into 2 different signals

So the demo shows everything but what I want the device for: To start and stop a groove loop with a trigger. The brochure says I can do loops but none of the demos actually show it in action. That makes me afraid there is no looping option for samples, and I will need to hit the trigger over and over to loop it. . or some such critical weakness. I don't know why else nobody would show that you can start a sampled bass loop or a percussion loop with a trigger and then play along with it, then switch to another loop. . etc. Has anyone used the TM-2 for this yet?

from the TM-2 manual; page 11 "LOOP - If this is “ON,” the instrument will sound repeatedly. Strike the pad once to start the sound, and strike the pad again to stop the sound". also under mono/poly "With the “POLY” setting, repeated strikes on the same pad will trigger multiple sounds that are overlaid. With the “MONO” setting, a repeated strike will turn off the currently-sounding note before playing the next note, so that the sounds will not be overlaid. This setting does not affect the way in which other pads produce sound. * If you turn Loop “ON,” this setting is always “MONO.” Hope that answers your question...the best I can do till I get mine and make my own video LOL

Jak259 Yes the SPD-SX is a more bigger version with pads built in but you can do pretty much everything with the SPD-SX and run loops or whatever sounds or songs you want with the SD Card - also you can run trigger stereo so 1 or 2 out

Isnt it amazing how terrible the roland sounds are. It is 2014 and they still cant get a natural drum sound. Now this TM2, what is there so stunning about this thing? The samples for the bassdrum, come on.. it downgrades my yamaha set.

The good thing about the TM2 is it's ability to add an SD card with your own samples. For 200€, this thing really does do a lot. Agree with you though, some of the samples are just useless.
