Xlr isn’t a cleaner signal necessarily. A trs cable is also shielded. If you have a long to run then put a DI in line so you can shield the signal.

Hi! Did you have the chance to compare this device to the EHX V256 or the AIRA E4? If yes, what is your opinion on their vocoder? Thanks!

Even tho you spoke of what you didn't like about the VT-4 watching your live performance only made me love it that much more that I can literally look past what you didn't like about it. Im glad I made my purchase and im looking forward to adding this to my home studio . Thank you for the video .

Of course! Listen, I hear you. No piece of equipment is 100% perfect. And I still use the VT4 regularly.

If I’m just a singer with no instruments do I need to hook it up to a keyboard, or anything,or can I just use microphone and speaker?

The E4 uses a balanced TRS mic input (1/4" jack doesn't mean it's a line input). XLR isn't inherently better quality signal connection - TRS and XLR are both balanced signals. XLR is can be more secure and durable but the signal is treated the same in TRS and XLR cables.
@NefertitiGold Жыл бұрын
This is true, however for microphones I personally to use prefer XLR because they can carry balanced audio signals and also protect the signal chain from electrical surges. The two pins connect to the positive and negative wires, which carry audio signals, while the third connects to the cable shield, providing the protective ground connection. As the signal travels from one end to the other, the negative pin is out of phase with the positive. Because it is likely to pick up other noise, the signals will flip once it reaches the receiving end causing the signal to be put back into phase as well as cancel out any additional noise caused by radio frequencies that were picked up along the path, therefore delivering a cleaner sound. But everyone’s preferences are different 🫶🏾🫶🏾

the only prob with the E4 is no phantom power, so live with a wireless mic RX or a 57/58 you’re good, but the mic pres in these aren’t great anyway so it’s maybe not that big of a loss depending on how you want to use it
@ChristopherEdmondsАй бұрын
@@NefertitiGold TRS 1/4" is also balanced, the only difference is the connector on the end of the cable. It's not clear whether the line outs are in fact TRS (balanced) or TS (unbalanced) - the docs don't say. I'm going to open mine and have a look to see.

Hi, two (silly) questions : - can you use any usb wall plug to power this unit or must it be plug to a computer ? - can you plug the jack out to a mixing table or is it not the way to do it ? Thanks for your time :)
@NefertitiGold2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure about the mixing table but I’ve tried it with a wall plug AND plugging into my computer for power and it still works effortlessly. I just posted a new performance video using the effects live and it was plugged into a USB hub for power.

can you use this device to remove the vocals from line input while singing live and mix my own voice via a shure microphone? the idea is I want to sing "Perfect" and only use the instruments and remove (or suppressed) Ed Sheeran's vocals. If not, is there any other appliance (or application from a laptop) that can do? I just want to start singing and playing guitar and I don't want to do lip syncing from a recorded song.
