I've had the E-4 for a year or so. I'm an English teacher in Hong Kong and I take around all my classes (15), so its small size and battery power are very convenient. We have a lot of fun with voice changes (eg boys suddenly sounding like babies) and the looper.

I do a small hack which i find quite pleasant. I am passing the output of a monosynth to VT-4, while the midi keys are sending both to VT-4 midi-in and monosynth, and i choose the vocoder. This for me creates an adequate polynote "version" of the monosynth (at least for backgrounds). Not sure if anyone tried this before. (i also keep some of the original mono sound for the channel mix)

You tried the Novation Mininova one?

Aaah your the guy I have seen on KZbin vids inside that tent looking structure. Your improvised jams are brilliant .

Thanks a lot!! I don’t feel like a lot of people end up seeing those jams so I definitely appreciate it!

Can you do a demo of the vocorder on the Juno X? Or did you already do one I forget
@MRTUNA2 ай бұрын
I will do one athough I did one for the Jupiter-X and it is the exact same as the Juno vocoder if I am not mistaken!

Some time back, after seeing what you guys were doing with it, i picked up the VT4, thinking that it might enable me to sing in tune ... how wrong was i 🤨😂 still great fun though
@MRTUNA3 ай бұрын
hahaha I basically found out the same thing, thankfully I have Jared around most of the time for when singing is required! We made some really fun audio loops using vocals on the E4 that made me think I could do more of that without embarrassing myself too bad!
@darwiniandude3 ай бұрын
Very interesting, thanks :) Have you tried the Vocal Designer expansion for the Jupiter X/Xm? Wondering how that compares. Roland has no manual available for it of course, probably only included in the purchase.
@MRTUNA3 ай бұрын
Yes i have the Vocal Designer expansion and I really love it! It is more about vocoder specific stuff than anything but maybe I should do a deeper dive into what you can achieve with it

I do not use my VT-4 anymore as I am not sure of how to use it and how to work with the key setting, but most of all, hasn't software tools replaced these things big time today??

can you use autopitch and harmony at the same on vt4 ? ideally along with reverb and delay. thanks
@MRTUNA2 ай бұрын
yes you can use harmoney and autopitch at the same time👍you can also add reverb or delay but you can only use one of them.

@@kierenmoore3236 haha I actually have two VT-3s ! They are great units but they are especially handy for me creating more analog inputs for my Roland MX-1s

Do you think their vocoders even rate compared to Jupiter X?

yes they are very close....... unless you have the vocal expansion installed on the JPX then they are left in the dust!

Thanks for all the detail review man. I made my choice ;) Are you considering the MOOG MUSE for your studio? I spend all my money and bought one.
@MRTUNA2 ай бұрын
I havent yet pulled the trigger on a Muse yet but I came really close the other day! I might wait to see if I can snag a deal but the sounds are interesting and I dont have a moog currently in the studio
@Vickorftron-2 ай бұрын
@@MRTUNA You cannot have more Moogy sound than that. And don't be worry about having issue with the synth, some people seem to try to saying bad things about bugs but I have no issue with mine. You just need to do a full calibration once in awhile if the room temperature significant change. I have no issue with mine. I did few videos, feel free to check it out. Cheers

hey mr tuna - what would be the best way to connect the e-4 to a live setup? Is there a way it could be wireless? Thanks :)
@MRTUNAАй бұрын
it might be very difficult to connect to a live setup wirelessly without some lag in the connections...... the simplests and best way is to connect by a single cable, USB-C for audio midi and power.... Otherwise it is well optioned for 1/8th inch midi cables and 1/8th inch audio cables!

it can definitely be midi synced! by usb or by midi 3.5mm !
