Roland XV 5050 real-time editing using XV-Editor with Windows 10!

After years of using only the midi in/outs on my XV-2020 I stumbled on a site that mentions the A-Pro driver for the XV-2020. Sure enough, I installed that driver and it works great. Finally using the USB port on the XV-2020. I probably have the unit 15 years, and never was able to get USB working on my computer setup, regardless of what Windows OS I had been using.

All the editing uses SysEx. The XV-5050 manual actually has really specific info about how you edit patches over MIDI, so there's no reason the editor shouldn't work over regular DIN MIDI. So you can just select your audio interface's MIDI and plug the 5050 in like normal. I mean I haven't actually tried the editor that's why I'm watching this video! But it'd be cool to actually get that front USB port to work!

I haven't looked at any of these replies until today. It's just a fluke thing that I discovered throughout the years if you can find a suitable driver for your operating system from the manufacturer of various pieces of hardware, you can get it to recognize the functions. That was my whole purpose of figuring this out was to be able to use that front USB port. I love all the sounds that I get through MIDI but I wanted to try out the editor and use a touch screen interface to make quick tweaks. Changing different parameters and whatnot.

will it work with the Roland regular 5-pin midi to usb cable? I have the UM-One Mk2 one.

Yes, all the editors work fine if you just connect the XV-5050 to any MIDI interface with the DIN cable. It's all just sending SysEx patch info. It doesn't matter whether it's the front USB port or the back DIN port.

I bet this just might work with the edirol sd-80 or 90.

The SD-80 has its own editor, which looks basically the same.

Yes I am having a same issue with the Xv 2020 editor. It's running on Windows xp and they don't have a Windows 10 update. Very annoying. I want to retune mine to 432Hz and can only do this through the editor.
