When my sis was given questionnaire by doctor, he asked her if she had a high school diploma. She said yes and I have two Masters from Atlanta University. He looked at her and laughed. Two Masters? She said yes. Next visit she brought them in their frames. He did not even apologize. Where was this??? Harlem Hospital, in Harlem, NYC. But then here's the best part.....She asked him to show her where his medical degree was from and also if he took the class on "not every black person born and raised in Harlem is a HS dropout, ask their highest level of education and never laugh as if they are lying". Get my point?

Ok this isn't ment to offend anyone but be honest. Why does it matter that I marry someone of the same race/ethnicity(black) and not be open minded to all women? To me what would be important is being with someone who loves and supports me. Stuff like hobbies, dreams for the future are important and yeah, people do have a preference to me that's one thing. However, what shouldn't be right is talking down or making fun of a person simply because there different, to me that messes it up for people who simply "like what they like". ps if you see this comment it's because I'm curious to what y'all think. I also tend to like to look at things from both perspective.

The fact that we as Black ppl have to convince why we should love our own ppl is just devastating. **7 year update 2024** I made this comment about 7 years ago when I was 20. I was very “pro black” and thought men like Dr.Umar would change the blk community for the better. When I realized blk men have a serious inferiority complex and fight for their proximity to whiteness more than they do to build the blk community they even have favoritism with skin and hair texture when dating blk women. I realized dating my own race didn’t fit my life Goals or the type of husband I would want to build a family with. The irony of this is I’m now with a Latin man who loves and adores me and we are both talking about our future and who knows what will happen next, but I strongly encourage blk women to work on their traumas and consider dating out to find a man to love cherish and respect you, to me that’s far more valuable than race.

I am so beyond Disappointed with the way Roland's facilitated this interview. This is advertised as an one on one interview to satisfy black twitter's concerns with Dr. Umar, however it is a three and half on one shameful, disrespectful and cultural uneducated interrogation. Roland-- this was an epic fail on you! that caused further unnecessary divisions! How dare you openly allow panel members to disrespectfully and ignorantly refer to your Guest as a Liar...(smh reminds me of Obama's State of the Union address) then to beat-chest chastise the guest for defending himself (although equally disrespectfully). Where's the fairness in your correction? Then to allow your panel member to childishly scream rant as he could not properly defend his own argument... without any correction from the moderator/facilitator??? Same with the female panelist, to attack this guest without the ability to defend her own claims. Dr. Umar answered every question regardless of the facilitator & panelists' ideology of his responses and did not deserve the treatment received. Roland your performance requires a public apology on your, your panelists & TVOne's behalves to not only Dr. Umar but also to your audience! Do Better! This did nothing to help black people nor black twitter.

That's right, and Dr Umar cannot speak and does not represent the 43 million blacks who live in America. Not all blacks are in the same situation, have the same struggles, the same problems or the same experience. Everyone's life is different. There are certain people Dr Umar CAN speak for, and there are certain people he CAN'T speak for. This is one thing the panel were trying to point out to him.

Let me tell you something about conviction. No matter whom, no matter when, no matter where you can express your self and articulate your beliefs with your head held high and and 10 toes firmly planted down during anything and in front of anybody. In order to get respect you should be giving it.This man was on trial by his own people on a platform that is viewed by many whom may not know of him or the panelists. This is not a video that reflects this show accurately. Ask hard questions abut allow him to represent him self as he would be the best person to do so. and He sat down listened, explained himself and never disrespected anyone until he was forced to continually validate his beliefs repeatedly and defend himself against the same very people whom he not only looks like but also fights for. What is wrong with his philosophy? Where is the lie??We get caught up in emotions and feelings and that hinders the process and progress. I love this platform and the show but no one else was needed during this discussion besides the host and the guest. The emotional baggage that was displayed was a manifestation of an old tactic that puts our people against each other. “House negro” mentality. This created division that put us at odds with each other basically being a junior oppressor to our own in hopes of the “master” liking them.We are always quick to listen to others but when it’s our own we want all the answers. This conversation is too important to have exchanges like this on video perpetuating the very thing that we should stand against. Respect everyone especially ones whom are in the struggle willing to get questioned and defend their beliefs unequivocally. You can’t listen when your mouth is open and ears are closed. Even in disagreement this level of emotional instability should never be displayed on a platform doing what was done to us by people whom look nothing like us. Respect him and if you disagree that is okay. He doesn’t run or hide and that should always be commended despite his unorthodox and unpopular beliefs. Dude on the end wanted a moment but wasn’t ready🤷🏽♀️ when he was about to get it. Be aware and mindful of what you put out there it could be what defines you.

The fact that they all attacked him because he simply wanted black men to marry black women speaks volumes
@Zanpe1234 жыл бұрын
Because it’s racist... By definition. It’s almost laughable that so many people don’t understand that. If a black man wants to be with a black woman, great! If a black man wants to be with a white woman, great! No one, and yes, NO ONE, should take any logical/philosophical decision based on color; it must be on character. Anything apart from that is sinful and non-productive.
@Zanpe1234 жыл бұрын
@@nicklebaby respectfully, I don’t think you have a full understanding of what racism really is. Someone doesn’t have to necessarily hate another race to be racist. It’s anything that discriminates or is based in prejudice based on the color of someone’s skin, as opposed to character. So when Umar is calling for black men to only date inside their race and reserving respect for those who don’t, he is making a decision (to not respect someone) based on what color they happen to choose. Think about a world where race is no kind of issue at all. That doesn’t come from marrying only black or only white or only anything. The only way we can achieve that is by basing every decision we make on the character of someone else and what is pleasing to the Lord, who made ALL of us, despite our minor differences in appearance.
@Zanpe1234 жыл бұрын
@@nicklebaby well I’m sure we disagree on too much to get to any real conclusion in yt comments lol but I wasn’t saying at all that whites should feel obligated to marry within their own race. That would be racist also 🤣 but marrying outside of your race doesn’t contribute to racism. It does the opposite in fact because it allows another race to get to know you well and perhaps squash many of the stereotypes they possibly had before. The only way to solve racist issues in America is through unity and loving one another regardless of race. Like I said, if a black man chooses to with a black woman, that’s awesome! And any other colors you want to throw in there work the same way. It’s just not conducive to solving racist issues to choose based on color, let alone withhold respect for black men who end up falling in love with a black woman.

For example, if a basketball player gets millions and marries a white woman, if something happens to him, his fortune then gets transferred to her and the white community. If they get divorced, a portion of his earnings go to that white woman and the white community. If you are black and marry black, you generate wealth within and for the black community and black family.
