Consider looking at English and Viking history, where there are numerous examples of people following a leader who ultimately betrayed them. By viewing these stories through a historical lens, where race is not a factor, people may find it easier to understand that betrayal and harmful leadership can happen in any group. It’s a way to illustrate that there are "crazy" or corrupt individuals in all communities. I remember when Obama was running for office, I was listening to NPR, and a woman called in saying she was scared. The host asked why, and she responded, "Because they’re going to do to us what we did to them." Everyone was shocked because her fear wasn’t something that had crossed people’s minds.
