Richard, The watch is a fantastic transformation!!! You caught me off guard during our phone conversation so I must reiterate that I am extremely grateful of the time and effort you have given to restore this watch. My father is delighted with his gift and I’m sure he will wear it proudly for many years to come. All the best Cathal

Everyone take a moment to consider how many times the old owner's wrist moved to create that amount of wear on the pins, the countless hours of work done with it on, yet with a clean an relube, the watch performance was excellent. It is a testament to how well built a Rolex movement is. Fantastic.

My father wore his for 35 years, I inherited it when he passed 20 years ago. The jubilee bracelet is stretched as bad as this one, easily. I miss the sound it made when he would wiggle his wrist around to wind it.

Exactly if you have ever seen a scaffolders forearms you know this bracelet has had a massive workout over 35 years!!!! Insane that is held together really. not only to great machining and materials, shows you how insanely durable stainless steel is, people in thousands of years time are going to be digging up all sorts of stainless steel bits and bobs from us!!! Also the new jubilee bracelets are solid centre links so are significantly more sturdy than these older style that are hollow.

Richard, what a tedious job and in many ways one requiring the delicate skills matched to the rest of your honourable profession. Retaining the original bracelet with a prestige watch keeps its authenticity intact. To some owners this may not be so important, but to others who really prize their timepiece, it is essential. Thank you for performing this task to camera. The end result was immensely satisfying and worth every penny of the time, effort - and patience - that went into achieving it. Genius!

Hi @aceace5457 ... I have the sense this is an important question and that I should attempt to give helpful advice as requested. At the same time I am hampered in my ability to do so as I have no experience in performing my work in this way. I fear any advice given would be based on theory rather than practice and hence of limited value. This said I think it would be entirely possible to work on watches (and bracelets) with one hand but that some tasks would take a little more time than with two. Also it would be necessary to focus some thought on the creation of specific tools to assist with working in this way. So sorry I cannot be more specific but I just don't have enough practical experience to be so. Great question though and if anyone else has any tips then please chime in. Richard

Richard, I can see why you said you don’t usually do bracelets! That probably took longer than taking the main body and inner workings of a watch apart and putting it back together again…lol! I own an older DateJust with this exact bracelet and have a greater appreciation of how well crafted it is. )
