This is one of the slickest Datejust 41s that I've encountered. The combination of case, dial, and bracelet likely would by the one I chose for myself if I were in the market for the current king of Rolex's DJ line. Best, Tim

Classic design that will never get out of style. With the bigger size it does make it 'modern' compared to the smaller one. Guess it comes with age.... it started to look good to me,,, never in the pass. Especially the non-fluted bezel look really attractive! Silly it might sound, it is a simple bezel but somehow it look way better than many other Rolex fluted models. Great review Tim.

Great review as always Tim. One correction however. Despite its "41" name the watch is only 39.5 mm in diameter in contrast to the Datejust II which is a true 41 mm diameter watch.

Great vid Tim, have you measured the diameter on these? They are supposedly 39.25mm and not 41 which seems to be one of the reasons it wears smaller than the DJ 2

I measured about 39.5 at the bezel, but it does matter where you place the calipers. It's certainly possible to measure 41, but there's no doubt that the Datejust 2 was larger overall. Best, Tim

Thsats interesting about the date was always just... I have heard the story because the perpertual watches came before " date only" .. so once they have made a complication that was the most useful as people would remember the day and the month but not always the date they have called it the date just.. Tim what is your favourite size 36 or 41 ?

At least it's less dominant a feature on the dial of the DJ41. The Cyclops always struck me as overpowering on traditional 36m (and smaller!) Datejusts. Best, Tim

Hi Tim, I love watching your videos. I bought the 41mm Datejust with the jubilee bracelet and blue dial and fluted bezel, from Singapore last week and I love it. But I find it feels very small compared to the Datejust 2. The case is very slim now. Have you noticed how reliable the 3235 movement is? Over 1 week and it has only gained 1 second. :-)

So far, there have been no issues with the 3235. Rolex has had trouble with a few complications in the past (most recently, the 4160), but the three-day automatic has been solid. Regarding fit, the DJ41 wears MUCH more compact than the DJ2. The lug shape and bracelet end links of the DJ2 create a broader presence on the wrist. Best, Tim

Yes exactly. The 41 does wear closer to the skin making the overall profile of the watch small and compact, which I do like. But I also miss the larger presence of the DJ2, it had more heft. In the past I have had the DJ36, DJ2 and now the DJ41 and it is the most beautiful of all, but I may change it for a two tone DJ41 because it will be heavier. ;-)
