The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona comes encased in 18k white gold surrounding a silver dial on a black Oysterflex rubber strap with folding clasp. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, small seconds, and chronograph. The watch measures 40mm in diameter, 12.3mm in thickness, and 47.7mm from lug-to-lug.

This is the most popular - and my favorite - of the 2017 Oysterflex and gold-cased Rolex Daytonas. It's cool, understated, versatile, and likely to age better as a style than its yellow and rose counterparts. The 2013 Anniversary Daytona remains my favorite, but this Daytona is on my top-ten list. Hi Tim.Great video as usual and I'm very interested with this piece and have a few questions: 1. what are the difference between wearing a gold watch and a steel watch. Is it easier to scratch, can't be polished etc? 2. Is there special care required because I heard wearing a gold watch is not the same?? 3. Also, in your video, you mentioned that the strap can't be adjusted. Is the standard one long enough?

Have one and absolutely love it. Honestly can’t fault it - it’s visually stunning, has nice heft, is super comfortable, great hermeticity, and is built to be robust not fragile. My favorite everyday watch, by a long way.

Great review, Tim. Not only is this my favorite Daytona, it may be one of my favorite Rolexes of all time. I wear mine every single day and it's still just as exciting to me as it was on day one. With all the hype surrounding the SS Daytona and prices reaching $20k, I think this watch offers tremendous value and is destined to be a future classic. Cheers.

I agree with you about the value of this model. Paying $22,000+ U.S. to buy the steel/ceramic pre-owned is nuts when you can have this - arguably better looking - for only a bit more. This is the WG Daytona that I'd buy for myself, so congratulations on yours! Best, Tim

Absolutely stunning Daytona. Probably my second favourite after the yellow gold/green dial bracelet version. Much more appealing than the steel variants. I am top of the list at my AD for this and cannot wait to get my hands on it. Great review, thanks!

I have a good friend who used to be an AD. He had a white gold Daytona with bracelet in his store for sale at the steel version’s price. I informed him that it was white gold and worth a lot more. He was completely unaware! I still wonder how much he would have lost on it at his wholesale pricing!

Wow, that's not a ringing endorsement of the dealer, but I've seen things like this in the past. We bought a JLC Master Compressor Memovox a few months ago at the price of the steel model. Neither the trader making the purchase nor the seller was aware of the fact that the watch was white gold, but I straightened that out. Best, Tim

GGHY Yes, the strap is a bit adjustable. But if you have small wrist like mine at 6”, better to buy new strap one side. When I bought the watch, the oysterflex size is E (6 o’clock side) & F (12 o’clock side). So, I just bought D for 6 o’clock side and switched E to 12 o’clock side. It fits perfectly.

I have that same question. My PAM326 allows for an easy swap between the rubber and leather straps. This one is the only Rolex I would consider buying and I'd love the flexibility of switching from the rubber to bracelet and back. Thanks for the outstanding review!

I have 116503. Feel your finger round the crown and the guard, then the pushers. Then, feel the edges. Now, i also have the Jade Dragon SBGC207. If you have one, repeat the same. Now, you can feel the difference between machine made watches and handmade watches. If you want to know what 'sharpness' mean, you compare it with a Grand. Also, my son get rashes wearing the Rolex but not the Grand. Strange!

What does the fact that the gold is from Rolex have anything to do with it? 18k gold is, by definition, 75% gold (a very soft metal) no matter who/where it’s from. Not a great choice for a clasp. Will get the shit scratched out of it too.
