Bruce Williams the bezel is really scratched up a lot. Did you ever polish it? Does it bother you that it scratches so easily? Would you get white again if so why white instead od black dial?

Congrats again on the Rolex. I'm glad you addressed briefly the feeling of wearing a Rolex. Watch collecting is an inherently illogical endeavor. A lot of what attracts us to watches is I'll defined and intangible. The sense of wonder, and accomplishment of finally owning a Rolex is something that should be enjoyed. I hope to feel the same feeling you are feeling one day brother. Have fun!

is this one getting the most wrist time, or the tudor BB? What is the accuracy per day on this one? How would you compare it to the Grand Seiko?
@BruceWilliams8 жыл бұрын
matt plechan I've sold the BB. BB was more substantial on wrist, awesome lume. The lack of date began to bother me. GS has far superior finishing and better accuracy. (GS was spot on. Tudor was around 4 sec a day, Rolex is 2 sec per day) Each are different animals. If I had to rank I would go 1) Rolex 2) GS 3) BB
@realdata86248 жыл бұрын
My BB in house is 1-2+ PER day. some days are actually spot on. I have tried on my friends Explorer GMT, and i understand what you mean, not as tall and fits nicely. Though what keeps me with my BB is the 70 hour power reserve. let's see what Rolex comes up with in the future.

I have that exact same watch. I wear it every day and it looks like the day I bought it. But you're correct, there is something very satisfying about looking down and seeing that ROLEX crown. It is a great feeling. And the watch speaks for itself. I go in the ocean with it, I shower with it. After the salt water, I do rinse it off well with a soft soap and lots of fresh water. I love the watch.

Just bought a g serial explorer II. Last ones made before they went with the 216750 I love it and I was shocked at how slim the profile is. The solid end links give the watch a wider stance yet the short profile/thickness make the watch not as flashy as other models

I'm amazed at how white the dial looks. It's a fine piece of work. The only thing that bothers me on the dial is the weird orange/red look of the GMT hand which makes it look cheap. Again a very good and concise review that's to the point. This review gives a good summary of the advantages and disadvantages of the watch.

Thanks Bruce, for an excellent review. After collecting various and sundry nice watches over the last three years, I have just recently made this my grail watch, And for the same reasons you mentioned. Rolex doesn't use AR because the flash of the crystal catching light makes the watch more noticeable from across the room. There's nothing wrong with AR coating technology. Omega does amazing double AR, but it is a smudge nightmare.

Congrats on the Explorer. Made me laugh when you mentioned the snobs calling Rolex the best beater watches. Funny how true it is. I think Rolex along with maybe Breitling and Omega kind of hold that "wow" factor to the average person. They are watch brands people that aren't true "watch fans" recognize and understand are quality pieces. I think that is why there is a special feeling when we are able to purchase those brands because they are ones we have likely heard of throughout our lives as being considered top notch and were likely one of the first brands we thought we would love to own one day. It brings a sense of accomplishment and pride to know that we own a piece we have desired for a long time and that is considered in that category of a truly nice watch. Those of us who know much more about watches understand there is Patek, JLC, Audemars Piguet and many others who hold much more respect in the watch world, but likely haven't known about those brands for nearly as long so they lose some of the sentimental value of wanting to own one. Anyway, nice video, glad you enjoy the watch.

Nice review. I had a 36mm Explorer I and it had some of the same problems; stretch prone hollow link bracelet, tinny clasp, and poor lume. Also, I don't see the point of using white gold if you're only going to cover it with a black coating; might as well use steel. Finally, this is subjective but I really don't like the look of the watch. All that being said, it is without a doubt the best value as far as sports Rolex is concerned.

I think since Rolex does all indices out of gold it makes sense not to break from the production process. Plus they can charge more haha.

Great review a beautiful watch . I love that Rolex do the traditional sizes rather than just the huge 44mm and upwards . The Polar dial really stands out and it's only a good thing that Rolex takes counterfeiting seriously as the market is getting flooded with copies that are getting better and better making it really difficult to buy used today.

I don't agree on why they don't use AR coatings. The cost of adding it would be minimal.
@BruceWilliams8 жыл бұрын
Why do you think they don't use it?
@apowers77838 жыл бұрын
I think the lack of AR gives for a more neutral, cold, timeless design.
@nicholasalukito94078 жыл бұрын
The less-likely reason is that Tag and Omega do it, so Rolex doesn't want to be in that company. The most probably reason is that Rolex has never done it, and when most of their watches sell out before they even hit the display case, there seems to be 0 reason to change the formula.
@apowers77838 жыл бұрын
Nicholas A Lukito Indeed. I think it would just limit the target market... I for instance dislike AR because it can never be as scratch resistant as plain sapphire among other reasons.
@nicholasalukito94078 жыл бұрын
Since it's rolex I don't think anything they do would cause them to lose business, but their relucance to change things is pretty self-evident, and additionally, it is true that the majority of serious watch collectors I know do not like AR coating.
