Every video you see comments about Michael and it's very telling - and more than his inviting and personable demeanor I think he brought a humbleness to the KZbin watch space that is lacking. Absolutely. He's 180 degrees wrong about this, this is by far the most exciting dress watch Rolex has ever made. The past 15 or so years they've been trying to break into the high-end dress watch market with the Cellini and then the previous 1908, and it's just been swing-and-a-miss after swing-and-a-miss. You gotta give credit to Rolex for actually releasing watches that people can and will buy. Nobody is going to buy that Piaget Altiplano, that Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultimate, those 200 pieces limited Cartiers, you can't. Pepsi and all GMTs will likely see production volumes decrease relatively. Since BLNR & VTNR, they're all GMTs that are built on the same production line... as soon as you add another Bezel colour - those production numbers are likely to reduce proportionally. 20,000 Pepsi's then become 10,000 Pepsi & 10,000 Batman... add Sprite and that becomes closer to 6700 per variant. now with the addition of the Black/Grey... you're at 5k watches of each variant being produced.... for Rolex, they're still producing the same volumes of watches - it's just the split of the permutations. All said, Pepsi are harder to acquire I suspect because they are the most favoured and therefore have a longer waiting list. Supply/ Demand.
@notenoughtime72746 ай бұрын
very true. Although Rolex is also meant to be upping production quantities overall by 2025 with 3 additional facilities. That doesn't mean a Pepsi GMT is necessarily produced in higher quantity if there are other challenges, but other models have lower wait times.

@VMIyanks046 ай бұрын
Most watch enthusiasts don’t care about the precious metal Rolex releases because they are too unobtainable to the normal folk, so not exciting at all to me. But I know Rolex doesn’t care. Rolex today is selling a high-end luxury lifestyle and are no longer the tool watch company they used to be, even as recently as the last 10-20 years. I think they are continuing to cement the role of Tudor as the every man’s affordable Rolex. Hot take: I think Rolex will lose market share to Tudor. The new monochrome BB41 is basically a Sub… why would a normal person pay more than twice for the same watch unless they just want the branding. Same goes for the new BB58 GMT, in Coke style no less. I’m just disappointed that there aren’t any watches that are relatively affordable from Rolex anymore that Tudor doesn’t have an equivalent for, for half the cost or more. Rolex has lost its allure for me these days.
@H_tudor6 ай бұрын
Summed it up perfectly for me. The brand is on a downward trajectory from a collectors perspective(from a financial and social perspective they’re doing really great actually) I grew up thinking of Rolex to be the “normal “guys dream. Work a shit ton and then one day be able to gift yourself that crown but as I see it now even the hardest working normal individuals can’t get a Rolex for list price which is so sad.(I’m 21 years old so I’m not talking of the 90’s when I say I grew up knowing Rolex like this🤣)

Cartier dual time prive and rewind were nice. IWC’s display was nice with the moon and the water. Lange lumen was amazing but not meant for us peasants way out of most of our price ranges. Tudor monochrome was ok for people that are into that. Jlc with the food and movements were nice. Zenith and grand seiko both did decent. Rolex was a flop and I’m a semi Rolex fan boy, definitely not normally a Rolex hater.forgetting some things but as far as practical wearable watches I thought Cartier really stood out … The 1908 isn’t bad tbh the dial is nice with the engraving. But I would probably take a JLC master moonphase before it design wise and cheaper. Or a Vacheron or Patek dress watch if we talking 30k price tags.

Christian, from London, T4YC. I have been predicting the "move up" from Rolex for some time. As a manufacturer their range is limited, and they need to get into PP territory. And I have been speculating what they will make, when their new factory opens, and production increases to 2 million pa. I suggest they're going to make many more of the new black / grey GMTs than you expect. They can probably produce huge numbers in the next year or two, without anyone noticing, and while there's all this hysteria about Pepsi and Coke, people will buy, as it's a very non-objectionable watch, and let's face facts, in the watch world, non objectionable sells in large numbers, even though everyone comments "that's a bit boring"! Plus the cancellation of the Le Mans makes the market think that short run cancellations are possible. Basically they are playing with the whole consumer side of the Rolex market. And doing it very well. But as consumers we need to think, is it in our best interests?
