Evening Damien, I paid £9,750 for an unworn Batman from the Watch Club in the Burlington Arcade, London. Batman for me as I’m not so keen on the jubilee bracelet.

Damien, Loved this video again. The Batman is indeed one of my dream watches. Not only am I a huge Batman fan, but the watch itself is extremely elegant, functional and as you said, an all round watch that works with every outfit. I recently acquired an IWC Le Petit Prince Pilots Chronograph, a present from my folks for finishing medical school, a beautiful piece to be worn with my Tudor Black Bay "Smiley Face" Love these videos. I have my Batman on my wrist right now. As far as Rolex GMTs are concerned, I also own the steel black GMT the two-tone black GMT, the Pepsi jubilee, the Batgirl, the two-tone Root Beer and a 5-digit Pepsi. I would say my favorite is the Batman. The colors are just right, I prefer all steel, and I prefer an oyster with GMTs.

My Batman was my first Rolex and I picked it up from my local AD new in late 2018. I lucked out and received one just before it was discontinued in early 2019. It has a permanent home in my collection.

Fun fact the blue red bezel is because Pam Am wanted the watch to mimic the Attitude Indicator [AI] of their 56 fleet of planes - your GMT Precious metal blue/pink🤔 was the first cerachron btw. Ps Popped into the Rolex dealer in Bournemouth last week in shorts and tbh while polite, the lady in there was very very sniffy, as most are, unless they know you - she only lightened a tad when I showed I knew model numbers which made my wife laugh out loud !

This is my favorite GMT Master II since blue for daylight hours and black for night is more obvious than the others. Another great piece in your collection, and who cares that it is another Rolex. It it is a great watch.

When it comes to rolex I'm pre-ceramic all the way. Just don't dig the 6 digit stuff all that much.... That said, any rolex is a fantastic product.

D I think is seeing the light as he's identified some good vintage eg 9411/7016, 16758 brown nipple et al...takes buying a 1675 or 5513 or 1680 or 1655 or 1016 or 1665 etc etc...to get it ! After you have all the new bigger stuff sits unused in the metaphorical sock draw until you offload them all 🧐 - his 16610LV maxi dial is the entry drug to vintage 🤔 - watch size fashion dropping will make many see the sense of the great sun-drenched-uplands of investment vintage Rolex / Tudor !!

@@paulthorpe766 totally agree. Think everyone is caught up in the frenzy of buying the latest Rolex without giving to much thought as to why they actually want it. Not knocking people's choices if that's truly what they want but the earlier models have a charm about them that the new stuff just can't match. A lot of people seem to be trading their 116610 for the 16610 at the moment and I think that is quite telling.

@@Tone_Jammer They are indeed - as long as they are clued up to buy pre 99 Tritium T25 dial lug hole versions (not later ubiquitous Swiss made luminova versions) as these will be worth 2x the price in twenty years just like the pre 85 matte dial are worth double the post 85 gloss dial versions !

I love how you unabashedly come at watches from an enthusiasts perspective. Your reviews come across so much more emotionally charged that way rather than just spewing a bunch of measurements and technical specs like so many other KZbin droids. I also own the original Batman. It was the first Rolex I ever bought. Got it at retail from an AD in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2017. Just walked in with no purchase history and got lucky. All they cared about was whether I was local. Snagged a Hulk from them a year later after a 3 month wait. Love both pieces but the Batman is my favorite bc it was my first Rolex and it’s more versatile.

The BLNR on the Oyster bracelet is undoubtedly my favourite of the ceramic GMTs, and may be my favourite modern Rolex sports watch. The understated colours make it such a versatile watch. Funnily enough, my dad walked into his AD shortly after the BLNR went on sale and walked out with one of these - he wasn’t after that specific watch, he just asked if they had any sports models in stock and they brought out the BLNR. No chance of that happening now.

Fantastic video about a fantastic watch as always, thanks for the frequent high quality content! I personally prefer the "Batgirl" as the Jubilee doesn't show scratches on the polished surfaces that much and it's a bit more comfortable. But I also have no problems with the Oyster with polished center links on my Daytona, I learned to live with the scratches, it's meant to be worn, so nothing to worry about.

Don't be THAT guy, Damien. You said yourself that the Batman nickname comes from the bezel and yet you use the Batgirl nickname on the Batman Jubilee. The change of bracelet does not necessitate a nickname change. Nobody changed the Pepsi nickname on Jubilee, Oyster or even white gold. Would you change your Batman nickname if you put yours on a strap?

Tbh I hate all the infantilised nicknames metered out by kids who live with their parents, - started with the Pepsi Coke (coke didn’t even have black in their logo apart from all black logo in 1900) nonsense and now men in rubber suit characters . Proper Rolex nomenclatures like Bombay, Devon, Bubbleback etc that mean something I feel are ok.

I bought a pre-owned 2013 Batman a few years ago just before the prices went crazy. It cost me €8100 which was above retail at the time but I just had to have it. This is the one Rolex in my collection that gets most wrist time and I will never even consider selling it.

Awesome watch, sadly Rolex has come bigger and bigger with cases and lugs, has become also undistructable as positive side and ceramic is certainly a step forward. As you have worn on the rist older daytonas and older sport rolexes don’t you feel better the charm of a less beefy case?

16523 is a good sleeper watch / 16520 now overpriced so these are cheap (and gen z like rolesor as they were not born when Bicolour where lampooned by many) - ref numbers they were £6000 in 2014, £8000 in 2018 and £9500 or so now so 12-15% growth - white dial is best investment as it has the unique to Zenith black surround on sub dials - b and p pay £1500-2000 more so worth it ! Hope that helps

I think the Pepsi is fine on Jubilee, but for some odd reason it does make the Batman a feminine batgirl. The blue and black just look better oyster - It just doesn’t work jubilee, a rare Rolex mistake.

mky hou I really don't gel with the jubilee bracelet ... on the Pepsi, because of the colour combination, agreed it is less offensive and grates less on the eye but certainly not a bracelet I'd choose if offered one .....but on the Batman ... No ... You need the bigger links and solid appearence.
