i got my 114060 weeks before they discontined the 40mm sub and went to the 41mm. to be honest, intially thought i was getting last years model, but now i feel the 114060 is more masculine than the newer subs.

I won’t deny that the new 12 series has better lugs, more elegant. But the 11 series feels better, has a better taper, and a slim clasp. Ultimately not a huge difference. Congrats on your sub purchase, let’s enjoy what we got cheers 🥃

Great piece. However I personally don’t understand the appeal of ceramic bezels. Scratches give it soul. And aluminum is cheaper to replace in case it ever breaks.

It’s been Rolexes ethos and mission since it’s inception, they aim to incrementally improve their watch making technology, materials, and abilities slowly but surely. I agree aluminum has soul, but ceramic doesn’t scratch therefore your watch looks pristine for longer. Which I think goes along with their goal.

Handful of cracked ceramic bezels online. I don’t know anybody who has broken theirs. I have never had a problem. You have to really bang it to brake it. And even if it does, send it in, get a new bezel.

The probability to accidentally scratch your watch are significantly higher than dropping/breaking your watch. So I think it makes sense to use a material that puts priority on scratch resistance in this case.
