I'm glad somebody has made an extended version of this, this is probably my favourite song from the whole Halo saga. It makes me imagine the UNSC personnel, the Marines, ODST's & Spartans thinking back at the end of this long, terrible struggle. To the times when things seemed hopeless (which was always) but they toughed it out and kept going. They lost comrades, and they lost their families when planets were laid siege to and glassed. They knew they were fucked, but they kept going. Because what else were they going to do. Somehow humanity hung on. I think we enjoy stories like this because they reflect something about ourselves, which we know lies within us but is dormant in modern society. The capacity to struggle against impossible odds against terrible enemies because we know even though we're probably doomed, we still know what the right thing to do is.
