When I was younger, I bought crappy tomatoes for really low budget and they tasted terrible. So I concluded I don't like tomatoes. Then my uncle told me try buying heirloom tomatoes. Yes they are twice the price but I wasn't throwing them away and they taste twice as good I think. So I'm glad you're rocking heirloom tomatoes

Yeah a bad tomato is either battery acid or flavourless, but a good tomato can be absolute S tier

Heirloom just means old cultivar no longer used commercially, they come in a wide variety of tastes and shapes! The most terrible cultivars in tomatoes is the beefsteak class of tomatoes. Bred for huge size and great transportability, they lost their vibrant taste and sugars (that’s what makes things spoil in transit after all) and gained a rigid, even mealy texture to help resist bruising. They’re cheap, but that’s pretty much all they have going for them. The heirloom varieties are just cultivars that we’re aiming at the same goal, but stopped short - great in this case! It means they haven’t had the flavors and textures bred out yet. A good middle ground is the standard or globe. These are the stereotypical “on the vine” types you see sold. The flavor tends to be very tomato-y and they have some sweetness and some tang. Very sandwich tomato. They also come in heirloom varieties but they tend to be very similar to the modern version. One of my favorites is the Roma,whose oblong shape naturally resists bruising and more acidic flavor resists some spoilage. Great if you prefer a zesty tomato or want to make some sauces, they also have a great structure to cook with and can be canned very well without getting mealy or soggy. They have very little sweetness though, which might not be your preference. Grape tomatoes are smaller and oblong in shape, they’re sweeter without any zest, and generally use sheer productivity to offset the losses from rot. The plants are crazy productive and are the preferred salad tomato in most places. Cherry tomatoes generally use the same strategy as grape tomatoes, though they’re more spherical and contain both zest and sweetness, though the exact cultivar determines if they’re an overwhelming zest and sugar bomb, or a bit light with a balance of both. There are a few niche varieties that produce different shapes, ridges, patterns and colors, and standout cultivars that defy their category (San marizano is THE premier sauce tomato, but it’s an heirloom plum tomato - ones normally associated with plain, sweet and sliceable yet this tomato is like a mega Roma!) You can usually guess the flavors based on the family of tomato! This has been your unasked for TED talk on tomatoes. Have a nice day.

For next year's April Fool's Day instead of having the dice mess with you just mess directly with the audience by using the salt and pepper cantrip on every step. Every. Step. That or the mayo if that's not wacky enough

The thumbnail always kinda ruins the video a little because I already see what you rolled. For instance in this video I saw that you rolled tomato and cheese, kinda takes away from the surprise on what you rolled in the video.

@@nismog3570 no worries- not frustrated at you, I just get this comment periodically and have no idea why KZbin does this because, like you said, it spoils the video
@AllTheseFeels6 ай бұрын
maybe it's because the video is shot vertically that messes things up wrt the thumbnail orientation? i know i always get spoiled when i encounter it on my feed instead of opening the playlist (which i don't rly mind, it's a preview lol), so i assume it's one of the visual updates messing with it. maybe you could try adding bars to the sides of the video? 🤔
