In this video an average DIYer applies a roll on epoxy primer to a 1970 nova hood. In an average garage with basic tools, no set up shop or staged materials, we follow the manufactures instructions. See the results inside video!

Turn the activator/ catalyst can sideways when pouring and it won't splash, the 1×4' and 1×5" rollers work much better for auto applications. If you mix too much next time put the paint in the refrigerator and it want flash until you get to use it in 30 to 55 minutes. But it's looking good👌

Great video and tutorial! I watched the rust remover video and that was legit. Question about your compressor for the walnut blasting: What size tank and CFM are you running? I just picked up a 30 gallon compressor from HF to attempt paint spraying, but I'm wondering if there is any setup that would allow this tank to do any blasting, any kind of blasting. My project is a 1946 Walker-Turner 10 inch table saw I'm restoring on my channel. In particular, I'm preparing the base for paint. Any advice or guidance you have will greatly help get this fine machine running again. Thanks BW!

2 observations. Wow, that's a short work time for epoxy. Normally epoxy is like many hours. Weird. 2: I like to stir it or shake it then put the lid back on. I poke a small hole with a phillips screwdrive in the lid to pour from. Then I use my HVAC aluminized tape to cover the hole after I wipe it off. Works pretty good.

You did a great job prepping the metal, and I can understand rollering 2K hi-build primer since it is a filler and doesn't shrink. (and you can do that) But epoxy? It doesn't fill nor need a thick coat to do its job. Plus, you don't really need to sand it unless it's set for awhile.
@bwsgarage
@bwsgarage 2 жыл бұрын
I followed directions, they suggested 3 coats. I don't disagree with you, simply not sure. I sprayed DP90 on my 55, but for this , my best option due to space was this roll on method.
@frankschwartz7405
@frankschwartz7405 2 жыл бұрын
@@bwsgarage Yeah, you gotta have that epoxy on there in your situation .I'm familiar with DP90 and the Omni MP170's. Neither seems to be rollerable, with a 1.3 to 1.6 mil thickness per sprayed coat. Maybe Eastwood just wants to sell you a lot of epoxy. Now the MP28, you''re really going to like. You can absolutely put this 2K hi-build on with a roller, it's like liquid body filler. Guide coat and block. Dust your hands and admire your work.

Why 3 coats is that what was specified in the instructions? I assume so because you seem very thorough. I will probably try this on my project but I'm cheap I will probably just buy the optiflow epoxy and then I'll need to know what kind of roller to buy.
