Less than a year ago, my friend treated me to a cigar. As a child of the 90s, I well remember Arnold Schwarzenegger with a cigar in his teeth and I always wondered what it tasted like. I am 30 years old now, I tried a cigar for the first time! The smoking process for me I really liked it. You can call it a ritual. I also really like the approach to making cigars. These are hand-rolled cigars made of tobacco leaves without any additives where the taste and aroma of cigars depends on mixing different tobacco leaves! This inspired me to grow my own tobacco and roll cigars and cigarillos. In this video you will see how I roll tobacco products for the first time!

I grew my own a decade ago but I could never get it to really taste like tobacco, just generic plant leaves. I couldn't get it to cure properly in a cold barn and didn't have the motivation to build heated storage. I tried some quick cure methods mentioned on forums but not with much luck.

The tastiest and most fragrant tobacco leaves I got were those that I plucked first and dried in a dark room with constant ventilation. After drying, they had a wonderful uniform golden color, and after fermentation they acquired an aroma and a rich taste. The tobacco leaves that I already dried artificially, indoors, I like their taste less, they are bitter and less fragrant. Perhaps they were plucked from the bush too early, but there was no choice because the first frosty mornings had already begun. In any case, I I will use this experience in the new season and will plant even more varieties

Idk I've noticed a huge difference in switching to smoking tobacco leafs vs cigs/vaping/nic pouches. Not to mention tobacco's flavor ranges is akin to coffee but different. Idk I can see why in some cultures it was used by shamans a long with weed

I failed in fermenting well the first time, but after a few attempts, everything worked out. There was also a curious case, I had several kilograms of tobacco leaves left, which I collected in late autumn, they were small in size, and it was already cold and I I could not dry it naturally so I put it in a box and left it! What was my surprise when I went to this box after a month and a half and there were leaves a perfect uniform brown color and a wonderful smell. I put it to dry but I haven't tasted it yet. I think in the new season I will try this method of fermentation because I plan to plant more bushes than this year

In order to get good tobacco leaves, you need to spend a lot of time and effort! Starting from the germination of the seed to the collection of the leaves, after which the equally important stage of drying and fermentation of the leaves begins. What a great video. Definitely a new sub here! Im thinking about growing my own tobacco for the first time but feel like its going to be really hard as im in the North east of England (cold and not often sunny). I also love tinkering in my garage building and restoring axes but well and truly dont have a green thumb. Any tips? Thanks in advance

I am glad to see you on the channel, thank you for subscribing! You can make a completely simple greenhouse, using oilcloth for greenhouses, this is the best option, tobacco loves moisture and heat. Or if you do not have the opportunity to make a greenhouse, grow tobacco by the seedling method, transplanting small pots into larger ones, and plant them in open ground only in June. In addition, make a warm bed, which will warm the roots well and serve as good drainage, so that cold water does not stagnate! These are probably basic tips I would follow if I were in your weather conditions. It is important to plant at least 2-3 different varieties so that you can experiment with the tobacco mix in cigars.I smoke 1 cigar a week, sometimes two! Sometimes I treat my friends, for such needs, I need 20 bushes for the whole year. I read that the longer tobacco is stored after fermentation, the sweeter and more interesting its taste is, so it makes sense to plant several spare bushes to store tobacco for a year or two. And I will say, after you try homemade tobacco, you will never want to smoke ordinary purchased cigarettes, they are disgusting

The beginning of the cigar is hot like pepper, the middle tastes like walnuts, the end is spicy and very rich, it's hard to tell! @ That’s quite an ambitious undertaking. Just the blending is an art form in itself, never mind growing and processing it. Looks like you’re off to a good start, though. Since you don't inhale cigar smoke, your exposure to the carcinogens are much lower. Nicotine, however, can diffuse through the skin in your mouth. I wonder if you roll a full cigar-sized blunt if you can get the same effect with cannabis without having to inhale any tobacco smoke. Any smoke inhalation is bad, but God lost a bet with the devil when giving us tobacco. The cancer causing compounds are called "TSNAs" or *tobacco-specific* nitrosamines.

After I dry the tobacco leaves, I moisten them a little with water from the atomizer and move them outside, now we have very high humidity! So the leaves are stored for 1 day (It is possible and less) It becomes elastic, I moisten it a little more from the atomizer and fold leaves in a pile! I move this pile into a glass vessel with a lid, and then move it into the oven and leave it there at a temperature of 30-35 degrees, of course, necessarily with the door ajar for 3-4 weeks
