Big kudos, to the kid that mad the Rollei news (I assume it's a kid). It put a good spotlight on the news climate we live in, as you so well articulated. Always check sources, and be reasonably sceptical, sums it ups pretty well. But to all fairness allt of the article I read actually stated it probably wasn't happening. But still, most of them of course went with the cliickbait headline.

Thank you Nico! I would love to see the maker community & home-machinists to start taking these old classics and hi-res 3D scan every part so people can make their own someday. Or maybe watchmaker level engineering could be applied to these classic designs and even improved like Shelby did with cars! I am picturing a jeweled-out Swiss engineered Nikon FM2! What would you guys like to see?

If you want a digital MF camera...take a serious look at the Fuji GFX100S. It's about the best you can get right now, and they have great glass. I have the larger older model, the regular GFX100. Give one a try if you want a digital MF camera. Maybe rent before you buy? HTH, CC

Used TLRs are relatively cheap still. It's an awkward camera for a modern shooter to use.

Considering how popular film has gotten again with causal shooters, I wouldn’t be surprised if a new more professional minded film camera is released. Like the only new cameras that have come out in the film world recently are the Leica m6, and those cheapo point and shoot plastic lomography camera. No inbetween available new. Which is fine cuz the used market is alive and well. But it would be cool to purchase a new Pentax k1000 or a new rolleiflex

Unless someone bought all the tooling and IP when Rolleiflex liquidated a few years back, the chances are of winning the billion dollar powerball lottery in the US than seeing a new film TLR appear on the market under the Rolleiflex. A digital TLR is an answer to a question that was never asked.

I was sceptical straight away but kind of hoped I was wrong; that somebody was making a DTLR and calling it Rollei. But just wasn't very convincing, so the disbelief was always stronger than the hope.

I have three Rolleiflexes. And another approx. 20 other TLRs. I don't need a new Rolleiflex, and especially not a digital one. Remember this digital Yashica? What a joke! We are definitely not lacking film cameras, even not TLRs. There are more than enough available. In times of 3D-printing we are even not lacking spare parts. What we are lacking are people able to make those cameras work again. And probably some more film makers to make this market competitive again.

Just put a Hasselblad digital back on your Rolleiflex. Pro's have been doing it for years.

Thanks Nico. I'll take your brand of truth any and every day over click-bait-ey fake news. Maybe someone could build a halfway decent TLR these days, though I'd doubt it would be as good as a mid-range one from back when they were new. To re-create the mechanical and manufacturing genius that made the best Rolleiflex cameras so special wouldn't be technically impossible, just cost prohibitive. No way.

Maybe a TLR would be a good film camera to start making? Something a bit better that a Lubitel would be technically simpler than a 35mm SLR. What happened to Seagull? Great Chinese brand!

Enough TLRs out there (from Rolleicords to Yashica Mats). Seagull cameras were interesting, but of rather shoddy quality (and their 3 element lenses were a bit mediocre). But I think if ever, we could get "new" mechanical cameras out of China at some point. Could be interesting if it happens (we get good mechanical lenses from there, so maybe there's hope).

About the clicks: the dislike button is basically gone. Since then the number of channels that have empty clickbait and get recommended by the algorithm has multiplied. That brings a lot of money to youtube and to the scammers. I am not talking about stuff like this fake, but even people just inventing stuff and having AI read it, so it's a zero-cost business money model for anyone with zero morals or ethics.
