Watch out winter is coming Chris, get your shop time in now. Good job on the roller. Looked like a perfect 3d print job.

Hey Randy - ahh yes, you could well be right about a 3D printer approach - still must get one some time if I can afford it. Still, the lathe approach at least got me there - including errors!

Man, if I lived closer, that lathe would be following me home, whether the Better Half knew about it first or not . . . Nice job on the roller ends, I like machining plastics, it's kind of different. Good to see stuff repaired for service rather than just scrapped like often happens in a "disposable-minded" society.

Hi Everett - thanks. Oh yes, had I the funds and space even at my age I'd love that Monarch too. Hope perhaps though someone can find a home for it. Though roller was a cheap unit still some satisfaction in getting it repaired. I think we both like doing that! :)

Jobs like this come up every so often. I always figure them to be 10 minutes or so. 5 or 6 hours later I might be finishing things up. Thanks for the video.

Hi Roy - you are right, those kind of jobs seem like a ''quicky'' sometimes but finish up taking a lot longer. Always a sort of challenge though so worth doing in the end. I guess cumulatively this one may have been a couple of hours or so!

Wow, that roller has seen better days Chris. The plastics sure machine nicely but make a mess for sure. Thanks again for the mention and hope you have a great week~Richard

Very good work to restore the roller. Would have been nice if they had you repair it when it first happened. Good work "Old Man." Have a great day.

Hello Dale - thanks. Despite being a repair on a cheap unit it was still an interesting challenge!! Good ol' lathe :-)

Another job well done! That shop looks to be first rate. Wish mine was that organized. $1000 sounds like a good buy for someone if it's in good shape and comes with some accessories. Cheers Mike

Hi Mike - indeed, I think that Monarch would be a great addition to someone's shop. Quite an old machine but for the price well worth having. Wish I could snap my fingers and see it in my shop! ATB :)

Those stands will sell for $15 at Harbor Freignt, Delrin alone must have cost at least that... lol Yah....!!!! But the joy of making something in the shop is priceless... ;)

I have one of those roller stands I am going to see if can improve on its design
@ChrisB257

Hi William - does seem the original has a weak spot with the bearing end caps. Probably depends a lot on how much they are used, plus that material may well degrade with age. ATB

You could have just omitted the 'bearing' and made two delrin plugs with a hole in to accommodate the shaft. Delrin is quite a reasonable bearing material in its own right.... That's more than can be said for those two sorry pieces of potmetal in the roller!! Toodles! Paddy
