Great video!! Just ordered these. I got current task to update my rollerblade macroblade 3x110 wheels and everyhting else, and the pricetag for all that was over 200€, so I spotted these Maxxum 125 from discount (300€), so it was easy decicion to order new skates. My first inlineskates was K2, and i didn't like those. Then updated K2 to rollerblade 4x90mm, next 3x110 and now waiting new Maxxum 3x125. I'm ice hockey player (not professional) and love to Do long distance trainings with inline skates after the ice hockey season has ended. Usually something between 20-50miles. Can't wait to have these new skates!

Kinda a beginner here - like, I used to skate a lot on quads back in the '80s, but it's not like riding a bike. I got a pair of these in March having seen a review where the guy did some urban skating, bombing down hills, going up & down kerbs, bashing through potholes and powersliding on asphalt, so I came to them with the idea that these would be a great all round skate. Having had them a couple of months, I can see they have potential for that in skilled hands, but the design does lend itself more to what you say, long distance cruising on bike racks and lanes. I like the length: they give me a great deal of confidence in front to back stability, and the boots' ankle support make them feel great for sideways stability too. I can't wait to get back on them once the weather improves. Just to add, I take a size 11 UK shoe size, so mail order during COVID severely limited my options for boots. I think I may end up getting some Bauer NSX quads next, but only after I've gotten as good as I can on my Maxxum Edges.

I just got these to upgrade from RB Zetrablade 80mm. I’m a beginner/intermediate and have learnt a lot watching your videos. Problems with the 80mm beginner inline skates I needed to address: 1) 80mm wheels are a trip hazard when slow. Trip on twigs when too slow 2) Plastic frame wobbly at higher speeds. Unstable. 3) Sg5 bearings are too slow and tiring after I began hitting 10-18miles per day. Poor glide ability 4) Soft boot has low power transfer. Energy wasted just trying to be stable 5) Shorter frame increases the likelihood of falling on your behind vs properly falling forward Upgrading to the 125mm Rollerblade Maxxum Edge resolved all the above issues I experienced. I did not feel like upgrading from 80mm directly to 125mm after 6 months of learning inline skating was too much. They don’t feel that high. I feel more confident on my skates. I look forward to your review!

All valid points to graduate from an entry level 4x80 skate but a 3x125 may not be the best jump for everyone. Thanks for your input though!

@@ThirtyandRollin You’re right. My goal for learning Inline Skating was to do long distance (31 miles plus in one day) on flat, paved, bike trails with no steep slopes. Even as I practiced on my 80mm, I had started researching what my next set of wheels would be. The 125mm Maxxum Edge fit the bill. I totally agree with you. My buddy went with 110mm 3-wheels.

I bought these skates as a total beginner and boy I had troubles early on. But this was all worth it, I now have over 1500 kms on these bad boys. I'm changing the wheels this year, was still on the origin set but could not go another year on those. So they last for a long time. I'm changing the bucklings on both skates as well as they aren't snappy and I'm afraid they are going to fail soon. Good thing is that bucklings are pretty cheap. I had to heat mold the boots because my feet were hurting on the side. They are... FAST. Be careful and be sure to skate in a safe area, long lines without much curves and hills.

That was my first skate! After a few weeks having switched to smaller wheels and having settled mostly on 84s on an Endless frame, I am almost to the point where I might be ready for my Maxxums now, haha. I hear ya though - I really wanted orange, but they didn't have them in my size (they were marketed only to the men). They are pretty dumb and so "old fashioned" to think that women need pink and only the men get orange. They coulda easily made these in some super cool colors like purple, green, blue, etc.

@@cerenademe9433 I've actually been looking into get some endless frames as my wheels are definitely getting smaller and experience going up, can't wait to see if it fits my urban skate lifestyle. I also agree with you about the colors, even though I think they're marketed as "unisex" (I like pink, orange, feel there just other shades of red), so that color would of been fine with me if done right. Liner also replaceable⚠️

@@mistadoobie5664 I think you'll love the Endless frames! it's a shame they are pretty much priced out of the "beginner" market as I feel almost anyone could benefit from the 'balanced' rocker they have. ...I don't know where you're located, but the online skate shops in the US and Canada that I have visited have the pink RBs under "Women's Skates" and the Orange under "Men's," with women's and men's adjusted sizing, respectively, even though there is no difference whatsoever between the "men's" and "women's" skate, other than the colors. And then, they don't carry the full range of sizes that RB makes, going down to a size 36, in the "Men's" version. ...I really wanted the orange ones but no one had them in a size 36. I had to get the "Women's" version in hot pink. Whatever - it's still cool looking, I just wish, like you, there were more colors. We should probably write to them ;)

Thanks for this thorough review. These skates would have been just what I need, but now I'm sure they would not fit well on my wide feet and thin shins. Exactly the same problem I'm currently having with my 125 PS Swells. Now my plan is to find RB cruiser/80/110 boots (almost impossible at the moment) and upgrade them with longer 125 frames. FR boots could be an option too, but I'm not sure if they are wide enough. I have read some mixed opinions about their actual width. My problem area is not that much at the toebox, but more in the middle section of my feet.

I 100% agree with you, buckles can make or break the skates. I just got the new HC Evo model and while everything else is good, the cheap buckles and the thin straps are really letting me down. Especially since I have gotten so used to the sturdy buckles of my Twister Edge. I want to swap out the buckles for good ones with as much "MacGyver-ing" as needed. Both the Maxxum and the Roces buckles look like great options for it! I am someone who likes to strap down my skates to be very snug and I mostly do City Skate and Slalom. I like the idea of the memory buckle so I don't have to fine-tune the buckles each time and can also get in and out of the skates faster. But the look/sturdiness of the Maxxum buckles looks great too. Those clicks just sound amazing! And I can't imagine how much better they are since I thought the Twister buckles were already built like a tank. I would love to hear your thoughts on both these buckles and which one you think might be best. P.S. I bought the Twister Edges partly because of your video. Was very informative as always and helped me make that decision!

25:55 you said 195 but meant 295. I’ve had these for well over a year. The fit is very different to the previous Maxxum 4x90 and I’ve always suffered a little toe squeeze and slight heel lift with the Edge shell and liner. Can still use them for distance, but I recently put the 295 frame on the old Maxxum shell for a more comfortable fit and so far I haven’t noticed the lack of a ‘torsion box’ 😆. In general you want to keep the cuff area on the loose side, as long as the foot is locked down with the 45 and laces. The acid yellow laces are faster, btw. Good to hear RB has good customer support in the US, elsewhere it is lacking - no direct points of contact at all. Nice stride. You’ll be doing marathons in no time.

I have had these for about a year now. This is a really good in-depth unboxing and you hit all the points of the skate! I wish this available a year ago when I was trying to make a decision. I will say that I was not confident on them when I first got them.... I was transitioning from a flat 76mm setup,; so it was a very different feel. Being on 125 lmm wheels, amplifies any weaknesses a skater has. After a year and doing about three heat molding sessions to eliminate the ankle bone pain... These are absolutely amazing skates! I own these skates. I had great use from them but after street skating heavily all the buckles have broken off. Plus the strap teeth have all worn down and now they slip and don't stay in place. great skates but I would wish they had more protection for the straps like the Powerslide Next. Because after 8 months heavy use the straps and buckles are complety fucked

Wow interesting the buckles failed. These are much higher quality than the NEXT buckles. There is a lack of protection around the buckles mainly because these are not a true Urban skate. They are meant to go far fast without falling on them much. Aka not much jumping ect. Thanks for your input on these though.

@@ThirtyandRollin thank you so much for the advice! I recently started watching your skating reviews and videos and find them all very helpful. My other question, and it's a rather harder question to answer is, what is your advice on Powerslide skate sizing? I remember from your Rollerblade Twister review that you would recommend going a half size down for a performance fit in those skates. I understand that every skate is different, but I'm just curious what your advice on sizing for Powerslides would be.

Price wise they're only like $20 bucks more then the twister 3wd... All rollerblades are overpriced compared to something like oxelo or fr skates but the design is still my favorite. I agree the cuff sucks and liner is thinner than twisters. Also finding replacement 125mm is difficult and expensive. Much easier to find something in 110mm and go down a bit on size which will also lower the height a little bit for added stability

I don't have these specific skates but I have the Maxxum XT 4x90's, which is the same boot I think just a different frame and wheel setup. Seems like the 125 is strictly for the 'Marathon' category, maybe good for going fast for 20+ miles on a long open paved trail, but not really suitable for urban/technical skating. That's my opinion. I have the Twister 3x110's too and I think they are a good all around skate that can be used for both urban and trail environments. Also I noticed my Maxxums, you really have to use both hands to ratchet well, meaning you have to press down hard on the boot while you ratchet with the other hand. Kind of annoying. Ratcheting is easier on the Twister and I think the buckles for the Maxxums should be protected or they will get damaged after a crash. Liner is thicker on the Twister but Maxxums are made to be more breathable therefore cooler. Overall I like both.

@@sarek8472 You're on the low end of Powerslide Zoom dual-sizing which means you'll have space to grow into an 11. It's nearly the same boot used in their aggressive USD Sway line except they have a bonus 45° strap. It's a nice minimal design and said to wider compared to other models. If you do, get the Zoom Pro with Trinity mount and you'll have access to the wide world of third-party frames. Other brands do dual-sizing too but double check because you might be on the upper end which means no room to grow.

@@peaspeas7202 After two years I switched to 125mm. It's harder in the beginning but I do not plan backing to 4x80mm. I rather prefer to have more space in an angle diring parallell/hokey stops. Also the 125 or 110 are much easier to achieve doublepush which is for me the holy gral of skating. Moreover in a 3 wheels setup after you skate for some time the middle wheel is slighty bigger which makes skates more easy to turn. The middle wheel is like pivot. Highly recommended.

There's a couple of errors I want to point out. 1. The anti torsion box isn't the aluminum plates on the mounts it's that thick cutout in the boot with plastic reinforcement. That's the anti torsion box 2. Rollerblade warranty sucks. It's usually like 6 months and they make you go through the store you bought it from to make claims. They also will say if your boot cracked it's from abuse. Certainly not going to send you new skates...I have the feeling someone knew you were a KZbinr and that's why you got the VIP treatment. I had a hard enough time getting a free replacement strap and they didn't even send a pair of straps just 1 strap came which is funny because the straps are a weak point on RB cruisers and literally cost $2 each from Alibaba. So your story about getting a new set of edges seems wild they could have just sent one replacement shell, they still have old parts at the warehouse from 20 year old skates, it's almost like they wanted you to have a new pair of edges for free KZbin publicity and marketing and it definitely worked.

Don't want to end up on the ground. My Grandson got me longboarding at 55 fell off twice at a snails pace fracture 2 ribs so a brake is probably the best way for me to roll putting a brake on 320 would make it harder for cross overs . Have powerslide fireflys they are 255 the wheels are so close together I have had sticks suck in the wheels have to roll on one foot in to the grass to get stopped

I have these along with other Rollerblades. You must be getting paid well for this endorsement. I rode these for months hating them every day. I spend another couple hundred for the Powerslide Next Pro 125s. I now have the Rollerblades for sale. I could do a video as long as yours as to why they don't compare to the Powerslides. There are SO MANY reasons and the Powerslides cost less. The Liners are just a start. They are clumsy. They don't respond well at all. They HURT!! DO NOT BUY THESE! Go with Powerslide. More comfort, agility, speed and less $$!

Well since i also got powerslides next 100mm, I can tell you this. My foot hurt so much and i will probably sell them pretty soon. I got PS Swell too and they hurt so much too. Both are for super narrow feets! I was completely new on triskates and wanted to try something new. I bought Rollerblade E2 110mm and they are the best I have ever had! They fits my wide feet perfectly. Now I only needs to buy a new pair of Urban frames for them.
@jessiecassio8349
@jessiecassio8349 2 жыл бұрын
Powerslides cost less because they're made in China which is cheaper than Vietnam. They also use lesser quality wheels and bearings, the straps are very flimsy and the Trinity Mount is a gimmick and made of plastic. Also there are threads on Reddit of the boot cracking easily. The liners don't seem to be any better or worse, and they are more agile I'll give them that, because the frame is shorter, but the quality of rollerblade is better then powerslides.

I couldn't disagree more strongly about the brakes. You have to learn how to use skate brakes; it's not intuitive at all and they cause so many problems for new skaters. Ditch them straightaway, get your balance down and learn to T-stop. Don't waste time learning something that you'll be chucking in a few months anyway and that will give you far more grief than friction.
