Not sure if you know but I just found out (accidentally) that the cuff liners on these can come out. It’s a half cuff with the heel and calf part so you can throw in the washer. It’s held by really strong Velcro where the heel is on the outside, right behind the silver ROLLERBLADE logo. If you look under the fabric strap you’ll see that the liner isn’t attached to the skate. It seems like nobody knows about this because all the vids on the Zetrablades say the liner doesn’t come out but it does. :)

First time commenter on your channel. I can't thank you enough for this review. I've spent the last few weeks researching gear before hopping back into the hobby (for fitness/recreation). For me, it's been somewhere over 20 years since strapping in, but channels like yours with immensely helpful and straightforward information are such wonderful resources. Your content is refreshingly honest, and your level of engagement with us is absolutely stellar. I'm excited to pick up a pair of Zetrablade's in the near future, along with a helmet/pad set to get reacclimated in a safe yet fun manner. Thanks again for all that you do. Wishing you the best for a continued prosperous 2023.

Excellent vid and channel - liked and subscribed. I just purchased a pair of Macroblade 80s tonight after viewing your Macroblade 80 vid and after an inline skate shop told me that they may be okay for my wider-than-average feet. I really got into Rollerblading 30 years ago (and recently returned to skateboarding, too, after a 45-year hiatus -- I'm 63) and really loved them for the great cardio work-out, even though the model was very basic (completely a hard shell boot like a ski boot, but they did the trick and I upgraded the wheels and bearings which made them roll 1,000x better). Again, awesome channel and content, and I'm looking to follow your vids -- thanks!

which one do you recommend for beginners zetrablade or macroblade 80? what about soft boot or hard boot
@TheLastHonestInfluencer3 жыл бұрын
For your first pair I'd go with the Zetrablade. They are a great blade even for intermediate and advanced, after using them for a while I actually like the plastic chassis, it seems to dampen vibrations from rough surfaces more than the aluminum one on the macroblade. Save the extra $50 and spend that on a solid helmet. Definitely a soft boot if you are skating for excercise or distance in a relatively straight line. Hard boot of you want to do tricks or play road hockey where you're doing crazy turns and jumps. Great question I should have said that in the video. Thank you for the comment!
@moccaipoel13693 жыл бұрын
thank you for the information because I am confused to decide to buy because some people say soft boot is difficult for beginners but rollerblade users say zetra or macro 80, but the seller says better macro 80 because it is aluminum and safer than zetra
@TheLastHonestInfluencer3 жыл бұрын
For beginner trick skaters a soft boot would be an issue but if you're using them for recreation or fitness training you want a soft boot for sure. Way more comfortable. You get more than enough ankle support from the strap system on a high boot. Hard boots give you more support but bad blisters they are a pain to break in. Again for the chassis, as a trick skater or hockey player you want aluminum for sure, way safer if you're jumping around and doing hard landings. But for recreation and general fitness training the plastic on these is plenty safe I haven't heard of anyone having issues with it. That being said, if you want to keep these blades for life and you plan on replacing the wheels there is a chance the plastic could wear or become brittle over time. In that case I'd go with the macroblade 80's. But in all honesty for the price of new quality wheels I'd just get a new pair of Zetrablades. I even do this with my macroblades, new skates are like $30 more than new wheels. Hope that helps man! If you're worried about long term durability just get the macroblade, it's only $50 more for that peace of mind. If you have a tight budget I'm sure you'll be very happy with the Zetrablades. Have a great weekend!

Hey! So the brakes questions is actually interesting! 😊 I suppose it all depends on what you do with your skates, but I do think that they slow your improvement down a lot ( specially when you already know the very basics of skating) and kind of "prevent you" to discover your true potential and become a more confident & versatile skater. ( not necessarily speaking of daredevil stuff on wheels) There are different ways to stop on inline skates without damaging your wheels fast ( like what speed skaters do, their wheels cost a lot and they kind of take care of them compared to freestyle skaters!) In the end wheels are consummable, but I understand people who want to make them last too! It's a nice subject for a conversation! I'd be happy to discuss with you if you want!😁✌️
@TheLastHonestInfluencer2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tiago! Thank you so much for your comment! Really appreciate it. You're right it definitely depends on your skill level and how much time you've spent on skates and what type of skating you do. One thing I've often considered is that having the brake on only one leg, even though it's only 200 grams, is still 200 grams and if you skate an hour every day that is going to create a muscle imbalance, even if it is only slight. Great call, I should have explained that there are other techniques one can use to slow down other than dragging a skate. That is actually an excellent idea for a video! The V or 'snow plow' works well if it's just a little speed you want to lose. Friction slalom is good too. I think it depends on where you skate tho, unfortunately busy bike paths require emergency stops sometimes and it's nice to bleed speed quickly before you have to take the grass to avoid ladies walking dogs and pushing babies while talking on the phone when you're doing 20kph 🤣 Thanks again for the great comment and for checking out my channel at all, big fan of your work! -Jamie

I only use these wheels on the best asphalt paths otherwise they wear really fast. I get about 1,500-2,000km out of them but that's on new paths. They are ok for urban but definitely a bit bumpy and won't last as long. For urban I always use my 1003WD skates they handle the rough urban stuff a lot better.
@kellarenna Жыл бұрын
I started w the zetrablade but I like to go on the trails. I've eaten sh*t several times from tiny sticks/acorns/gravel in these. They don't handle bumps well and it's very exasperating trying to pick up speed in them sometimes.especially if theres a slight incline. Unless the pavement is super smooth. I upgraded to 100mm wheels and excited to give them a try
@TheLastHonestInfluencer Жыл бұрын
Same exact experience here. Love the 100mm wheels on rougher trails where debris is common they handle it way better. 80mm wheels are great...but only if you're on a nice smooth bike path that gets kept clean. Enjoy your 100mm wheels! You're gonna fly

Used to inline skate all the time. Getting back into it again. Looking to get some skates. I thought I wanted K2 until I saw your reviews. Think I'm going try out Zetrablade. What's difference between Zetrablade and Zetrablade elite? Thx!
@TheLastHonestInfluencer3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jon! Excellent decision, inline skating is a blast. Rollerblade does have better options for entry levels skates imo, the Zetrablades are a perfect place to start. There's really no difference between the regular and the elite other than the colors, one looks plain the other fancy. Sometimes a reseller will cheap out and try to give you shit wheels and bearings, the ones that come standard are awesome: 80mm 82a rollerblade brand with abec 5 bearings. Make sure your pair has those and you're good to go!
@jreesz283 жыл бұрын
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer hey thanks for the reply! What other entry level do you recommend? I'm sure I'll be putting alot of miles on them. It's amazing how much bearing and wheel technology have improved over the years.

@@jreesz28 cheers man! Happy to help hopefully I can save you some time and money, I've blown a lot figuring this stuff out for myself. Never occured to me to search this stuff on KZbin first ha ha. Best wheels and bearings I've used have been the ILQ9 classic plus paired with 83a wheels from K2. They fit rollerblades as well. Over 2,200kms on a set and they still spin smooth and skate well. I've got between 1,000-1,200 out of my roller blade brand wheels but the abec 5 start to spin with a lot of resistance around the 800km mark. I've tested other brands of aftermarket wheels and bearings without good results. Going to be trying the Powerslide infinity on my K2 VO2's next month for a review video. Anyways that's probably too much info! The stock wheels on the Zetrablades and an extra set should last you well over 2,000-2,500km if you rotate frequently and use your brake to stop. Hope that helps man! Any other questions ask away! -Jamie

@Jon Rees sorry man, just reread your comment. Perhaps you meant other entry level skates. The macroblade 80 are fantastic skates. I have a 3 year old pair that I still skate all the time. I record all my skates with gps, my average speed on the macroblade 80 is the same as my macroblade 1003WD which is pretty cool! That being said I just put new wheels and bearings on the macroblade 80 (standard $70 ones from rollerblade).

whats the defference between zetrablade & mictoblade??
@TheLastHonestInfluencer2 жыл бұрын
Did you mean macroblade? If so, the only real difference on most of them is the frame. Macroblade are aluminum frame zetrablade is abs plastic. Hope that helps! Some zetrablade have identical wheels but some have low quality shit ones (compared to the macroblade).

@@TheLastHonestInfluencer yep i did mean macroblade. btw im a beginner in rollerskating, however i used to skate on ice using ice skates when i was younger and i know the basics (skating forwards and turning and braking on ice) what model of rollerblade would u recommend for me? and do u think the differences in macroblade (aluminium frame & better wheels) are worth it over the zetrablade?? a slight inquiry: is the frame on the macro detachable? if so is it also on the zetra?? and arnt the wheels on the macro the same as the ones on the zetra? , both of which are 80mm & 82A rating
@TheLastHonestInfluencer2 жыл бұрын
@@9LimaAlpha7 90% of the time the wheels are the same. But some cheap ass amazon sellers swap those decent wheels out with super shitty low budget ones so be careful where you get them and check them out thoroughly. Just because they say 80mm 82a doesn't mean they're good..I bought a pair where the wheels were knock off and they literally disintegrated after 25kms. Id say plastic frames are fine for you. They work for me even, and I'm a heavy guy who's skates pretty hard. They won't last you 3,000km 5+ years like the macroblade will...but if you love skating you'll eventually want a more agressive pair with bigger wheels anyways that's my opinion. I still skate my zetrablade during shoulder season when I don't want to mess up my expensive pairs on wet and dirty paths. Hope that helps and beat of luck!!!

Greetings! Just a half size you should be fine. The extra room will be in the toe box and it's only a few mm. The most important thing with skates is that your ankle fits snug and it kept from sliding up and down which can give your blisters. Hope that helps! Now days returns are pretty painless. I'd order them and try them on in the house. They should feel as comfy as your normal shoes and your foot should be held firmly to the base when done up. Keep in mind they wont feel comfortable on your shins when you're just standing there though because they are meant to lean you slightly forward for skating, we're just talking about foot comfort. @TheLastHonestInfluencer3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Kathleen! Really appreciate your comment!! In general I'd recommend a hard shell boot (foot protection & ankle support) and small diameter wheels for doing tricks as that setup will be much more stable for jumping, landing and hard cornering. Wish I could recommend a specific model for you but I haven't done any trick skating in a long time, much more endurance and duration focused now for training. Sounds lame but I don't want to risk an injury because that could mean potentially taking a break from skating to heal which would be a significant bummer (I'm addicted to going every day!). @TheLastHonestInfluencer3 жыл бұрын
Totally. In fact I would say that is what this skate is ideal for. The smaller diameter wheels keep you from getting going too fast which I find safer in a congested urban environment and they are reasonably responsive for quick maneuvers. I'd never wear my 100mm wheeled cross training skates in town as it would be a hairy experience, they're just too fast and they are so much slower to corner with. The Zetrablade will still work for cross training but I like it better for commuting for sure. Hope that answers your question! Any other specifics please feel free to ask! How do you keep from getting blisters when using blades everyday?
@TheLastHonestInfluencer2 жыл бұрын
Excellent question. 1. Socks. If I don't wear the right synthetic socks (thin, non-coarse) I get blisters right away. You need something to wick the sweat away. 2. Improperly sized skates and or not doing them up correctly. If your ankle lifts too much that friction causes blisters too even with the best socks. 3. Check to see if the material of your skate boot is pilling around the area you're getting blisters. Shitty socks can cause pilling, the pilling rubs your skin raw. Hope one of those things helps! Those have been the major cause of blisters for me in the past. Had to address them so I could skate every day. Cheers!

I've only had my Zetrablades for a few months but the frame is holding up great and I've not seen anything online from anyone saying otherwise so I think you should be ok. I wouldn't leave them in a hot car or a freezing cold garage all winter tho just to be safe...try not to subject the plastic to temperature extremes or jump around on these skates and make them take big impacts. @TheLastHonestInfluencer3 жыл бұрын
Great choice for your first pair! They don't pack in very much so I would buy on the loose side and not snug. Many people (myself included) tie them up really tight at first, this can lead to shin splints and foot pain. Personally I skate with all my skates loose now (I can wiggle my foot around easily). Hope that helps! It's tricky because you don't want them too loose either it's something you will get a feel for with time. @@sniperguy317 all good man, buying the first pair is tricky you're smart to ask for help instead of just buying them on a whim. I'd go with the 8. The things that helped me learn the fastest were skating on very level, recently paved (smooth) surfaces at times when there weren't any other people or obstacles around. That lets you really focus on getting a feel for the movement of skate striding, building the muscles and confidence to expand to other places and busier times. That and consistency. Try to get out as often as possible for short little sessions but balance that out with not over doing it. It should always feel like fun especially at the start. Hope that makes sense and helps! You might be doing them up really tight if the length is ok. When I first started I tied my skates up super tight and it gave me the pain you're describing and shin splints. hahaha possibly me too, i actually trust it xD just gonna look into if there are other online shops that could maybe have some warranty but eh idk yet

That's a good call. I like buying from shops that have a decent return policy incase I dont like the way they feel also. Had to return the K2 fit 90 boa they killed my feet.

Don't buy from Amazon. Bezos is rich enough. 😉

can vouch for the plastic chasis its dope. if you getting 80 mil wheels in a 4 config just get these. best begginer skates. when youve learned on them and are ready to move up get a 100mil 3 wheel setup. trust.

Just started vid. Replace wheels if it hasn’t been said.

Thanks for the comment Andrew! What was your experience with the stock wheels? I'm assuming they didnt last for you, were they the same as the ones on the blades in the video? Asking because mine seem to be lasting...BUT I recently got a pair of Bladerunners and the wheels literally started disintegrating after a 30 mins skate. There is a global shortage of quality replacement wheels right now it seems based on others comments, makes me wonder if they're using garbage wheels on their skates now as its all they can get. Not good. Thanks again for the insight!

These are expensive to me
@TheLastHonestInfluencer Жыл бұрын
Everything is expensive these days. You might be able to find some barely used ones on FB marketplace or something. Some people buy them, dont use them, and then sell them for -50%

@@TheLastHonestInfluencer yeah that’s true. I’m gonna look at local Goodwill‘s and stuff too. It’ll probably turn up something useful.

@@squigl3z78 i get comments every week like that, people scoring next to new pairs for $20. Just the wheels are worth x4 that! Hope you find an awesome pair soon

I'm about to get a pair of these if only because it's all that's in stock within a 2 hour drive lol. Just getting back into skating at the rink with my girls in the last few weeks. I had forgotten how much I loved to skate. I these will be good for rink and parking lots/sidewalks. I'm not jumping or grinding anything lol too old for all that
@TheLastHonestInfluencer2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely I think they will be great for that too! Skating is so much fun. Enjoy!!

@Fitness Junkie Reviews wound up ordering a pair of frx80s. Practiced around the house and the driveway a little. My first time taking them to the rink I sprained the shit out of my ankle🤣🤣🤣🤣 I feel like if I had rental skates, or anything without such good support I would have broken it. It's been two weeks as of today and I'm slowly walking again. Gonna give it a month or two and I'll try again, this time at a tennis court🤣

@@Will-tm5bj oh damn!! Yeah unfortunately that's a part of skating that isn't so fun. We've all been there. Hope you heal up fast and can get back at it soon. Have a good one!
