Great video Randi! I needed all of that diagnostic description. Helps sort out the geometry and dynamics of dealing with capsizes.

Great video! You brought up some really good points. I had the same tendency to push up the off water hand as well. It is super valuable to have these sessions to practice and pin point those little deviations in technique.

Thanks for this video and the comments, Randi; very helpful! LOVE the puppy cameos at the end, lol! At around 9:45, you briefly mentioned "there are some things about [the low-volume Petrel] that make it less of an all-around boat" -- I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts about what those things are. (If you'd rather I shoot you an email for that conversation, I can certainly do that.)

It's wonderful to be so earnest in diagnosing and critiquing your own rolls. Always have a plan B when your roll fails you is what I take away from the video. Thanks!

What skirt is that, that comes off with one hand?

Reed, Deck B, fits the Petrel very well, and as you can see, comes off without too much struggle. The most water tight deck on the market. I sell them, but I’m not exaggerating for the purpose of a quick sell.
