I'm with you mate, tackle set ups can be simple without rules, its the tackle companys that have made it complicated, just for profit as we know :)

To be fair to the companies, part of the issue is a certain ‘package holiday’ type angler, who needs to be told everything like a robot and thinks with almost religious fervour, that secret knowledge and special tackle, is only why people catch fish, hahahaa. The type on Carp programs who say they’re keeping it ‘really simple’ and then proceed to describe a 20 component rig🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🙄🙄🙄🤣🤣🤣🤣

Your videos are spot on - wish I was there with you. You've got some great water there. I've never been so successful fishing since I reduced to a rucksack and landing net for short sessions(fishing since 1980 - decided to go light 4 years ago.....wish I'd done it 20 years sooner). Much better than planting yourself in one spot with a shed load of gear. If there's nothing happening it takes seconds to pick up and move to a different spot and you invariably find the fish with a roving approach.

Good angling. I ignore the tackle tarts as well. A long rod is for casting, you can give a fish more 'stick' with a shorter rod, its the fulcrum/lever effect, just look at big game rods.

steve williams long rod is also for fishing deep water

@MarkCarp5 жыл бұрын
nice fishing, lure and spinning rods are pretty good for barbel and carp, there's a trend for shorter rods in carp fishing anyway so just save the money I reckon👍 rolling baits is a very underused method these days too, I don't think any of us do enough of it👍

Great stuff Chris. All this tackle tart stuff is just a nonsense designed to brainwash gullible people into buying the latest crap. I've landed Carp to 25lb on my 8 year old son's 5ft spinning rod with 6lb line straight through. It's all a nonsense and you are a top guy for refusing to bow down to any peer pressure. You still catch more than most anglers.

Hi Chris, came across this video on some tips about rolling baits. Always a great channel with quality content and advice! RE your comment about people religiously using specific tackle for specific types of fishing. I'm with you, I tend to use different rods and reels for other types of fishing. I have a question you may be able to advise on, I'm looking at using a 7ft spin/jerk/dropshot rod for close in feeder fishing. Needs to have a good backbone and a tip sensitive enough for registering bites. I know there's the likes of the Preston Wandzee, Browning and Daiwa 7ft rods. Problem with those is their pack down size, I like to travel compact so am ideally looking for a 7ft rod that packs down equally in equal sizes. Any advise or recommendations is greatly appreciated, tight lines!!

Haahahaaa thought with the bells 🔔 it was the opening scene to Dirty Harry🤣🤣🤣😛Do Barbel rove long distances in a river or do they tend to stick to one area?♥️ I use a 9ft spinning rod for most things, but often spin for double figure Pike with a 13ft match rod and catch tiddlers on my spinning rod using “Bread maggots”🤣🤣🤣♥️

Slightly disingenuous, titling the film 'big barbel'. Perhaps it was in 1980, but the Wensum has a recent record of holding bigger fish, even if they've been decimated more recently. Good to see some decent fish coming out. It's a great film and like the style with the tackle. On that note, I don't find barbel anglers blinkered when it comes using diverse set ups.
@RichardParsons655 жыл бұрын
Please don't take this as criticism, however. It's easy to criticise, yet I'm not the one making the film. :)
