This freestanding sculpture measures 1200mm x 1000mm x 400mm and coated in chrome powdercoat. The sculpture uses 25mm glass marbles and has a double sided helical lift. The red marbles stay on their own section of track and the blue on theirs. The sculpture has balls on track, loops, tipping arm, serpentine, lots of spirals (both flat and tall), a seven ball release mechanism and a new ball activated arm lift feature.

So many great features. I love the sequence starting with the epic descent at 1:50, the loops and then the huge backspin at 1:57. Great to watch ! 😊

The horizontal loops after the big down hill is a amzing concept and my favourite feature followed closely by the tight downward spinning spiral with the larger spiral around it using the red marbles. I also like how you gave the counter weight it's own path. I'm a huge fan of your work and look forward to each new video with anticipation. Keep them coming....thanks 👍🏻

Can you imagine the Revit Bim model for this? Or the 3d Rinoceros model? Imagine the axonometric for this or the plan elevations and the transversal and longitudinal section. The complexity doesn't stop there. Next follows the equations that intuitively the design sustain. Yes this is a hobby but the documentation of these toys is simply beautiful and full work of art.

Wish you could film an entire built, from start of finish, every weld and track direction explained. I've watched the entire wintergatan marble machine build and the depth he goes into his build is amazing. I want to see one of yours. Great work

Always awesome. Is there is somewhere where you explain your conception process ? I saw some parts of the fabrication process but i wonder how do you design this well oiled machine ? Is there is some plans, research or you set up on the go ?
@rollingballdave

No plans, it's all in my head. I usually only draw a rough sketch of the frame, and a list of components to be included in the sculpture.

Beautiful work David. I was in Australia 15 years ago & I might retire there in the next year or so. I visited the Glass House Mountain area & saw lots of "artsy" shops. I would love to visit your shop if possible. Is this the area you are located?

Your sculptures are amazing! If I can make a suggestion for the videos, it would be great to be able to see all the paths from beginning to end in one zoomed-out shot like the last one. It was cut too short and we couldn't see the full cycles on all the paths.
@rollingballdave
@rollingballdave 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Because the marbles are small, it is difficult to show any detail of the track path in such a large sculpture if filmed from a static position. In my opinion, the static shot is boring to watch as you can't see the depth of the tracks.
@aletof
@aletof 4 жыл бұрын
@@rollingballdave This may just be personal preference but that last static shot that allows seeing the whole machine is my favorite. After watching the initial upclose details I know what's going on, even if depth can't be properly perceived. I do enjoy the closeup shots however it's easy to get lost with no sense of location and continuity. By the end of the video, I felt wanting to see the last shot carry on for a few more minutes until all the paths were covered. Thanks for all the quality content anyway!
@RSpudieD
