Thanks for this excellent review! The only thing I suppose hardcore gamers may miss is a mode with true challenge. But it must be difficult to create such a mode with this specific gameplay (the automatic eraser gun). But maybe a "Demonic" level where you can get hit only once per life would have made the trick. but trully, it is the ONLY thing one MIGHT argue (and I don't, since I can enjoy myself even in the highest difficulty and believe I'll make it through^^). And the accessibility of the title enables newcomers not to be frightened, and more experienced gamer to scoring heaven and Item Showerland! (yes, I did love the DLC^^!!)

While I have my issues with the game (visuals, mostly), I am super stoked for this - really love this remix concept in shmup development in general. Can't wait for the Switch version, whenever that'll be released!

We really like the general design, even if more animation could have been used in places. The good definitely outweighs the bad, but that's just us. When the gameplay is as good as Rolling Gunner's, it almost doesn't matter. I like the remix approach as well. Cave were the masters of it, and given the dev background and pedigree, overpower is absolutely a natural evolution.

We've been at it for over 11 years, so I have no plans on slacking off now! The switch is definitely the best system for shmups since the 360, though Rolling Gunner Overpower on the Switch is still quite a ways off as of right now.

@@StudioMudprints I think the PS4 is not too shabby either. Till recently, M2 has been console exclusive to PS4. M2 is the Treasure of the 90s for me.

We do prefer the PS4 versions of games that are on both, but I think the exclusives really make the Switch shine at this point. Even more to come. M2 has some legendary stuff coming down the pipeline on both!

Switch has you covered. There are no plans for PS4; Steam will happen first, and it's still a very far way off, according to the dev.

Fantastic review! Your review of the original release made me buy it immediately back then and this video made me purchase overpower as soon as the video finished. NANAPO sending out the code after purchase before shipping also was a nice surprise. Now, after a long day at work I just played some rounds and I already know this release will keep me playing a long time. The second stick works perfect with the concept and the scoring is just fun. Now, as you said in the review, we need the soundtrack on a CD again. Hope they make it happen.

Thank you, Thank you... for bringing the Switch Version to my Doorsteps... Great Essay on RG... // Finally got my PC Version of the Game... and I must say it plays better than the Switch Version... (even on Yuzu with ramping up the CPU Power) Back on Topic... Overpower... is in my Opinion (in Casual Mode) onr of the best entry points for Beginner... but like Cave... the Game gets mean on Stage 3 and from Stage 5 on... you must have mastered the Controls or you will Die... but... after a few Days of fooling around and getting used to the Control System... I nearly 1CC'ed the Endboss... (Casual) but only 1 ship left... with half Shields... But Oh Boy what an adrenalin rush that Game is... This is with Zeroranger, Blue Revolver and Project Starship X, Danmaku 3 and Hellsinker the best Games I played during the Black Plague... Cheers to you for such a wonderful Channel...

Curious to know if there are any bullets that are immune to the buster cannon canceling. Thanks for going over the differences; I can hope this gets released as DLC for the switch version.

All bullets can be cancelled. However, some are Insta-killers if they impact the player, and rank makes suicide bullets and other waves denser and faster.

You'll get a disc and a download code but they are DRM'free and install to the PC without having to avcess the disc to play. Plus, you'll get Galaxy Frontier as a neat bonus!

This is fantastic news. Tell me though, would this work with a Mad Catz arcade fight stick. This is how i play all my shooters, i mean the overpower mode with just the joystick and 6 buttons??

Since the game can still be played like the original version it should work, but direct control of the rolling gun isn't possible.

It is totally possible to play this mode just like the original Rolling Gunner using an arcade stick. But a twinstick setup is better.

@@neccros007 I have just tried it with my fightstick and it works perfect. You can't move the gunner around the screen as you can with a 360 pad but honestly overpower is just a very easy arrange mode for RG, just stick the gunner in front of your ship or behind, depending on enemy attacks and it's a shield for all enemy bullets plus using a joypad to play an arcade style shooter is just wrong. Plays ok with twin stick but not the way to play, plus as said, way way too easy. Just my opinion

It's already here. As of now, Overpower is only in the Japanese eShop. It will be available for other regions at some point.

Needs a PS4 version badly. The Pokemon and Smash crowd arent into bullet hells. I dont know why they even bother keep putting these on Nintendo systems.

Overpower is only on PC at this time. Smash and Pokemon are big sellers on Switch, but STG is lower selling than most everything else on all platforms. Taking that into consideration, the Switch makes for a more ideal platform for shooter thanks to the ability to easily rotate the gameplay for on-the-go tate, as well as its huge install base. We've noticed that a lot of players actually lean Switch over PS4, even though PS4 is more powerful, leading to better performance. We typically go PS4 for performance then Switch for comparison though.

Aleste is still more than possible, as M2 has tended to develop on both, a-la-EspRa.De.Psi. Even if it's PS4 only for now, things change; No one thought Raiden V would hit the Switch, but here we are. All of that speculation aside though, having those three titles go to PS4 still doesn't mean that the switch isn't a good platform for shooters. Again, when players are given the choice, the switch versions of the same game always sell better than on PS4. It's just the way it has been, even though the PS4 is absolutely a more capable machine.
