meh.. some interesting stuff brought up, but it's mostly stories that any longtime Stones fan already knows, he comes across a little too drooling fanboy to do a serious doc. The el mocambo stuff was ok, but the rest of love you live was their weakest live album up to that point, this was when they began to play everything like it was on 45rpm, too fast and sloppy, a trend that continued to this day. Their 73 era tour with Mick Taylor was by far the greatest the Stones ever played or sounded, it astounds me they never officially released any of those much bootleged live shows back in the day.

@@greatunz67 I'm fron Detroit (blow the reveille)! You're not alone in dissing 'Love You Live'. - The _'pacing'._ - The somewhat _'lazy'_ delivery by Jagger. Christgau: "....like he can't be bothered to touch the roof of his mouth with his tongue." (LoL~°) And, it isn't _'quite'_ as good as 'GYYY's'. (or, the 'Ladies & Gentlemen..' soundtrack) I've always believed The Stones are victims of their own catalog. I've always felt it was mis-guided to judge them that way (studio LPs, too). *In 1977:* What live album was better? When I played this in my backyard for my BBQ parties; It was a *BIG HIT!* (IMPO) El Macombo is worth the price of admission alone! Having seen the '75 tour; I thought the whole album was GREAT! (still do) As far as this video author's delivery; After 50 years of listening to aloof, _'disconnected'_ journalists ramble on; I find FlipSideCT's delivery refreshing. 'By-a-fan'/'For-the-fans' More _'conversational'._ e.g. He showed 8 'Keef-books' (inc. Woody's). I've read six. Some (FlipSideCT fans) read three. Or, even just one. You probably read all eight! But, the optics/combined with little gems like the 'fan-bus' tidbit are enjoyable. Have you seen his 'Let It Bleed' (1-2-3)? Or, 'Black 'n Blue' (1-2-3)? You've entered a very cool place. *Give it another chance.* You might like it! Peace. Stay Healthy! - Dave B.

I won the CHUM FM contest and took my buddy to the Saturday show. We each wrote in and agreed to take each other.Paul had a beer with Maggie Trudeau and spent the evening lighting Bill Wyman's girlfriend Astrid's cigarettes. After the show, Ted Newman Jones (Keith's guitar tech) let me look at Keith's 5 string Zemaitis guitar. Ted let me stand with him in front of Keith for a song and when it finished, Keith took a large swig from the bottle of Rebel Yell on his amp. With a smile, he quipped, "Got through that one".

Hello Steve; Once again kudos for creating an above average documentary. One cannot appreciate the amount of time & effort taken to properly research, write, & piece together a visual period document focusing on Keith's career & that of the Rolling Stones. Taking the viewer thru Keith's arrest & the Stones performance at Toronto's El Mocambo club. Segueing into the Stones recording sessions, Keith's court appearance, the bail, & press coverage. Good job, informative & well explained in the context of the video. Looking forward to part 2. Take Care. Tina & Pat!~

Steve, yeah, I'm pleased ... This is great, so lovingly done and put together. Thank you yet again! When the band was at Nellcote recording Exile, there's a story of Keith sitting on the floor as the rest of the band started playing Bitch. Keith got someone to hand him a guitar and joined in. I think it was Andy Johns who said something like "Right away, you knew why Keith Richards is so important to the Stones". When you hear Route 66 @ El Mocambo, you know what Andy heard that day. I too hope they will one day release the whole show. They probably never will, as we have 4 tracks already, but who knows? Again, outstanding job, thanks.

I have the single right here. w/ Brown Sugar .it's worthless ,especially w/ a crack across it, but I like owning it. and Andy Johns was dead on! this was the era when they really were the greatest R&R band in the World. Brown Sugar/Bitch. Jagger was a serious recording artist in a studio. not legendary live usually, but a small venue will bring out the best in a band.

So the bootlegs often referred to as Keith Richards Toronto Recordings….or variations of…. Are absolutely beautiful and a fav amongst true fans…. These recordings should definitely have an official release they are soo good. Anyone who enjoys Keith’s voice even a bit will love this period of his stuff. Almost all piano and sounding like Keith alone in a room singing very emotional and thoughtful. Please release these recordings of an historic period that was just about the end of the Stones.

Thanks, I was in the Navy at this time, doing things I wish I wasn't doing. All I heard about this was Keef got busted with an oz of heroin, later he was ordered to do a concert with the "New or Young Barbarians" such a long time ago. Granted the Beatles were great, but for me the Stones were the ones. Loved their raw, bluesy style, & when they wanted to rock, they could most definitely rock. Followed them "The Last Time" up till just a few years ago. (Yup I'm that old). Really enjoying this, you're filling in a lot of gaps. Of course I was still grieving Tommy Bolin's demise, in Dec 1976. The things I was doing back then, it's a miracle I'm here to comment.

Dude!! I have been down with Covid for a week, and I have been BOMBING your videos, particularly the Stones content. Great, great stuff you have here. I have never seen such insight. Thank you for all of these. I finally had to comment. As a Stones fan, and as a CANADIAN, this made me angry and ashamed. I remember when this was going on when I was a kid. I was pretty young, but I was a music geek since I was still wet behind the ears, and always on the side of the outlaw. As it happens, I'm in the middle of a nasty divorce, and my regard for the Canadian legal system is at an all time low. Like a friend of mine said recently (a lawyer, actually): "Canada doesn't have a JUSTICE system; it has a LEGAL system"... Anyway, thanks again for the hours of entertainment.

You are doing some great work with a level head and eyes wide open. The UK produced some of the greatest bands in the blink of an eye in history that reverberates to this day. It is never lost on me and what a reminder. They were the gateway to my American culture born of pain and joy. I just finished part two of Get Back and then found your new gem. Thank you. I can’t imagine how much work and passion it takes to make these documentary’s, even with the convenience of these modern toys. A call and response across the ponds.

Finally got round to watching this on my flat screen TV. This documentary is fascinating to me. I felt as if I was reading a biography as I saw the story being told on the screen. You have put in a yeoman’s effort in accumulating this amount and degree of detail. I feel this is reaching a heightened degree of entertainment! Ditto this for Part 2 as well. Also just completed Part 1 of the making of Some Girls LP. I feel like I’m reliving memories of that time, since I saw the Stones perform on that tour in person. (I’ve actually seen them perform live seven times over a forty year period.). Kudos to you!

Yo Steve, Philly DC. I just got back home from Florida. My oldest son and I went to see the last Rolling Stones show from The no filter tour. It was so good, fantastic, words cannot describe! When I was leaving Florida, I settled back into my seat on Amtrak and turned my iPad on. Well, I got a really great surprise. Your latest masterpiece came on the screen. The - ‘ 77(part one). I was so happy to see this !!! This was such an interesting and just crazy time in the Rolling Stones history. You really covered part one well my friend. You touched on everything that a stones fan should know and could ask for! You know? On your last one, black and blue port three. One of your subscribers mentioned that the stones should probably be watching your documentaries and you should get some kind of recognition, like maybe Keith sign one of your guitars or even mick or Ronnie maybe sign a couple of your album covers for you. You know, For all the dedication, hard work, love and respect for the band. Hey, all of it! You really put it out there the way it’s supposed to be done! Well, I agree with that person. You really should be rewarded. Some how. Well, you keep it rockin’ Flipside. You’re the best!!! I can’t wait to see part two of this. All right then, cheers to you! And I’ll talk to you next time.

That a fantastic way to see the Stones, with your son. I wished I could afford it and take my daughter.....but she is also in CA. I did catch the Pittsburgh show on a FB feed, and it was a sure treat to see it live. Great to hear that iWhat a great and cool response for me to see. Thank you for all those comments! Hanging out with Keith who lives 2 towns away from me would be my wish of a pat on the back. But it is so gratifying to see the joy of Stones fans watching these and digging my projects. I always the one in the crowd to bring on the Stones. Thanks again for all.....listening to Lost & Found 2nd album of Tattoo You release, and enjoying it. all the best! cheers

I continue to enjoy your commentaries, and continue to thank you! I always hear a tidbit I didn't know, or considered differently and I'm fairly well versed. I knew Mick had written Miss You (largely), but always assumed it was Ian MacLagan who gave it that special electric piano sauce, but it makes much more sense that the keyboard origins were more likely Billy Preston...I can see it in a lineage from 100 Years Ago, Melody and Fool To Cry, among others. I've also read that the El Mocambo recordings were heavily overdubbed...except for Around And Around, perhaps. I wonder if your research yielded some information about that, but yes, let's get the tapes cleaned up and released!

Thank you very much for supporting and commenting. Mick in one interviewed talked about it and the 4/4 shuffle beat with Billy. Makes total sense.....then add Charlie to add the 4/4. I heard similar about LYL but, then again I heard not much as thought. So I did not expand much on that topic other then what I learned, but still researching and digging more on that. There are no books or interviews that I find reliable details on this, just in forums which I do not always go with. thanks for the geekiness!

I'm from Detroit (blow the reveille)! How 'bout a little perspective. guys? Live R&R albums in the '70s were HEAVILY treated. Some more/Some less. I don't know percentages here. "Booze and pills and powders. You could choose your medicine". Now if you read a lot of the Stoned supposed official lyrics online they say the second line is "It's another goodbye to another good friend". I say its wrong. What I think that Keith is saying is "It's another good buzz and another good friend". Hey there Steve. What can I say? You outdid yourself once again. Is it possible that your investigating, research and writing gets better and better with each new Doc? I truly could not picture Keith's addictions until I saw a bootleg video of Cocksucker Blues. It was real and in your face. The way that you did the timeline on this was superb. There was so many things that I never knew before. Only detailed so accurately by a real Stones fan. Like yourself. I am really looking forward to part two. You have truly become the go-to Stones Documentarian on You Tube. Turner best step aside. This here is memos from FlipSideCT. Way to go Steve~ Rob/Boston

LOL, always making me smile Rob! TY..... What I am seeing with Stones lyrics as I look at them closely, not all the lines seem to be about the Song Title's intentions. They mix it up and use those metaphors. Something they do not seem to do anymore. But.... "gonna walk" was about the arrest and bust, and "let me walk out of this case" trying to send a message, and used brilliantly. that is why I put those lyrics in there. "another good friend" is about Gram. I am still working on this info. Yea, CS Blues was raw and captured the junkie Keith. Keith did say, if I was so out of it as people thought how would I come up with a double album of material for an album like Exile. He even learned to ski at that time. His "junk" was so high grade. I would love to make a authorized doc, not for any fame or fortune but to get hold of archival work that no one gets to see. When I went to see Lou's archive in NYC library, it was so mind blowing and personal and filled with so much information most of the public does not know of or never heard. That is the taste I would like with the Stones. cheers hope you had a fun holiday. cheers steve

@@FlipSideCT The Winnipeg pic is definitely not a 'deal breaker' and the subsequent shot is the Eaton's Centre in Toronto. The overall presentation was very engaging. The Margaret Trudeau material was especially interesting. This was a big scandal here in Canada but the details were always murky. She's since written several books about her challenges with mental health. Now her son is our Prime Minister. More important is the significance of Keith's Toronto bust. As you foreshadowed, had it not happened, we probably wouldn't have SOME GIRLS. I'm thinking we might not even have Keith... he was obviously edging towards an overdose. (I'm looking forward to your follow-up program on his rehab and that seminal album.) The El Mocambo material was very engaging. The Stones have been a stadium experience for so long, it's easy to forget that they started off as a club band playing r'n'b. This was again brought home after they released the solid BLUE AND LONESOME album. You're right: they should also be releasing the El Mocambo set(s) as an archival album. Thanks again, Steve. @@DirkRevisited I am not 100% how to do that....as my Stones stuff I do use some footage/pics from other folks. Well even some of my other vids also. I do not think I can not ask for $ to show it or donations. However I may technically be able to set up a go fund me for my channel...I do not know for sure. But thank you for the thoughts that is very kind.

@@FlipSideCT Welcome and similar, one day I hope to find time & energy to learn more about those app settings. Certainly many will agree that your extensive efforts and pleasant way of presenting may be compensated. Until then, I hope you can enjoy a lot of expressions of sympathy. (who hoo ! )

Great insight presented here during a tumultuous crisis for Keith and the Stones. ... It's amazing how they continued on as a group and still composed music at this point; as a team; fueled by drugs, sex and rock n Rolling on a high wire act....

thanks RP, glad to see your comments. Yes a huge spot in their timeline that at the time the conclusion was really not known, and easy for us now to look at and not realize the fear that was evident and taking place during that time. I will mention that more in the next part. They are like repellent, the rain and dirt just washes right off them as they cruise thru each crisis. thanks

I remember this event in Toronto. I was a kid then. Keith had a community service part of his punishment. The Stones had to play a concert for the CNIB (blind persons). Some news reports said the band did not play a long set, but the audience seemed to be happy.

Hi Scott, yes that is where it went eventually in 79'. They did not play much, as it was the New Barbarians playing.

Great job. A chapter in Cpt. Keith's life that defined his character for me. Great presentation. Fun to see the Harbor Castle b/c o' the vision I had in my mind from the books. #singmebackhome

Hey Steve thanks so much for what you do. I've enjoyed every minute of your videos, especially the Black and Blue ones because that's when I really started to get into them. I was 14 and I'm pretty sure we're both around the same age. By the way I noticed you had Nils Lofgren's Keith Don't Go on in the background at the beginning....a very nice touch. Look me up if you're ever in Australia....🎸
