Yeah not just a vocal a performance and in service to the last line to drench it with that kind of spite And the lunch the last line you know a punch line a total performance end Rare for that not just with Keith but in rock and roll really I think especially then I mean hes an actually and that Keith can do Suddenly take that on and do that when you're really the authentic guy not the character actor if anything that's more jagged right WOW😊

@@davebolter9111 And it's gone now that's the thing it's really gone now it came and went so I think especially Mick Jagger is a little perplexed himself because hes still the accounting student to him inside who never really learns to play anything but elementary rudimentary keyboards and guitar but in fact it's Keith who amazes him the shy kid who suddenly turned out to be kind of a genius

This is such a beautiful song. It really reflects the way Keith felt at the time about Mick. They were butting heads, each trying to get more creative control from each other, contemplating if maybe they should split, but at the end realizing that he missed the way they used to work together and that even at that stage he loved the partnership too much to see it end.

First, this is Keith's greatest song! Ever! Period! Hard Stop! Second, there are tales that this song is actually about the relationship between Keith and Mick and the lyrics support this. It begins with "Well if you call this a life, why must I spend mine with you? If the show must go on, let it go on without you.... I'm so sick and tired, of hanging around with jerks like you..." And just listen to the rest of the lyrics with the Mick & Keith thing in mind. "...they weren't about ME, they weren't about HER, they were all about YOU!" This song was written during the earlier stages of Mick & Keith getting sick of each other...peaking during the Dirty Work era. But in the end Keith sings, "....so how come I'm still in love with you?" knowing they are forever soul-brothers and giving us all hope for the future :)

@robjacik3057 I’ve also heard it’s about MJ, but to me it sounds so much about Anita.. This got recorded rt after he’d been sentenced to concerts for the blind and he was leaving H behind for the most part but more importantly after that boy had killer himself in their bed in South Salem NY, Keef was in Paris but to me and what I’ve heard from peopl e who worked w him, this was the last straw and he never lived w her again and got Marlon away from her too. ..That last line kills me tho so how come I’m still in love w you?

If you will just analyze this beautiful song of Keith's, it is not about Mick splitting up from the band. This song is about his break up with Anita P his partner for many years whom he had 3 children and also cheated Keith by having a short affair with Mick while filming a movie together saying "am sick & tired". What about her is Keith's new found true love "Patti Hansen". This is how I interpret this sad love song.

@@petemartin295 That's your opinion...... Mine is completely different. And yes, they still play live songs of this album like "Dance Pt 1" (fantastic example of disco-funk with an irresistible groove and a powerful horn section) or the excellent "She's So Cold", with that exhilarating guitar riff by Keith, a track full of fun and excitement and without a doubt the best song on this good and underrated album to me.
