Yes, I think that I was very fortunate to grow up in the 1960's with all the amazing music that was being made at that time. I was 13 when the Beatles and the Stones first hit the charts and the Beatles, especially, had me hooked. I think this song from the Stones was one of their best.

My first hubby, my high school sweetheart and the love of my life died 5 days before our first wedding anniversary in 1988. He was a drummer and then guitar player. I was a lovestruck teen when he played this to me alone. We had 8 years together, lots of teenage bullshit but 42 years later, I think of him and can see him so clearly when I hear this beautiful song!

This video you realize is faked.... right? Back then thru the first few years of MTV and VH1 it was not uncommon for artists to do a video for a song while they were NOT actually playing it live at the time. Just look at Keith's and Mick Taylor's (right) rhythm hand and what you can 'see' with your eyes that they're doing you don't 'hear' with your ears. And the true giveaway -- Charlie Watts has a smirk, an expression of boredom and general disinterest/dislike of the deal.

An individual that i once worked with...told me of a vauge idea of his experiences being on the battle field as a medic, and then as a paramedic on the hoepey fields in Arizona i believe it was. He was taking too much from a lonely boss who seemed to have problems facing the lack of control under his own roof, and was power tripping in a way...this co worker stood his ground and i witnessed this as a younger man (24, and 36 now), and the situation got heated and the co worker told our boss he's quitting right then and there! (believe he finished his shift, but quit very shortly after) I asked him why he would just leave and talk as he did, and his response still resinates with me, to this day. (Only paraphrasing) He told me, "i have seen men on their death beds (similar to a scence from saving private Ryan, is the way i imagined what he was saying...as Tom Hank's character, told one of the soilders to stop administrating any more Morphine) and many of their final words are regrets that they had...such as i should have asked a particular girl out, or i should have told my mom i loved her." After saying all of that...he told me that, he will not take anything from people, as it was a way to avoid having unneccesary regrets, that were avoidable. I personally do not know who you are feeling...as only one could imagine every other persons pain that they are individually facing. Hope my experience can help guide both of you and all those around her, to give that angel back to where she came from.

The silent one will be missed last of the coolest drummers. This marks the end of an era. Charlie was always the quietly competent one. Really the beating heart of the stones. Farewell to a rock icon and a true English gentleman. Charlie drumming was a key element. RIP Charlie Watts.

My mom's favorite song. Nothing topped it. We sang it in the car, the house, everywhere we went. Although it had nothing to do with a mother/daughter relationship, it was our song. When CD's first came out I looked for Goats Head Soup for 11 years for my mom. It took that long for The Stones to release it. She never wanted anything from me for a gift. But when I found this, I'd never seen such joy in her eyes. As she was dying, I told my family to play this song. She could no longer speak, however everyone could see she was singing Angie as best she could. Now she's passed, I listen to Angie everyday. I generally feel good, but there are times I miss her incredibly. I know there are others like us though that this song means just as much to and it helps.

Angie, Angie When will those clouds all disappear? Angie, Angie Where will it lead us from here? With no lovin' in our souls And no money in our coats You can't say we're satisfied Angie, Angie You can't say we never tried Angie, you're beautiful, yeah But ain't it time we said goodbye? Angie, I still love you Remember all those nights we cried? All the dreams were held so close Seemed to all go up in smoke Let me whisper in your ear Angie, Angie Where will it lead us from here Oh, Angie, don't you weep Oh, your kisses still taste sweet I hate that sadness in your eyes But Angie, Angie Ain't it time we said goodbye? Yeah With no lovin' in our souls And no money in our coats You can't say we're satisfied Angie, I still love you, baby Everywhere I look, I see your eyes There ain't a woman that comes close to you Come on, baby, dry your eyes Angie, Angie Ain't it good to be alive? 1973 I was 21 and living above a garage in a one room apartment. Rent $75/month. Only care in the world was my motorcycle, women, weed and partying. I didn't think more than one day ahead at a time. So long ago now. Both parents dead, one brother all relatives and my precious daughter last year. Divorced and just one brother left. Things change and not always for the best. But I keep on keeping on my friends.

Wherever you are tonight, rest in peace, Charlie, "we're coming down again", but where are you, my friend? One of the soundtracks of my life was always the Rolling Stones, the band that never broke up, or stopped making songs, records, or touring live, Today their earthly existence is over with the death of their gentle drummer so different from Bonham but may they ride the ether waves forever where they can never come to an end. One bad boy of rock and roll is gone but rock and roll can never die or its bad boys - especially this bad boy who was the kindest gentlest one of them all and the quietest unobtrusive one of them all who mattered to their sound as much as the others or more.

Rest in Peace Mr Watts. Your music will be with us forever. You've shown us all how drumming may be at the same time simple, powerful, intuitive and touching. Very inspiring.
