The original chassis and cab was a BMC truck, registration number FMK438J. The whole thing was painted in two-tone olive drab camouflage. In the mid-70's it was £1500 + VAT per week to hire.

+ David Mellish. They recorded EOMS at Keith's house in France using the Stones Mobile truck. That is, the musicians were playing inside the house and the microphone cables ran into the truck where the mixing console and tape recorders were housed.

With respect: One thing you can try is playing the riff correctly. It's not on the E string, it's a double stop (both strings played together simultaneously on the same fret like how Chuck berry starts a rocker such as "Oh Carol" or "Johnny B. Goode") on the A and D strings. The rest of the "chord" is produced by John Lord's organ throughout the song, but Richie can clearly be heard playing the very dissonant double stop (that kind of mocks the sound of an organ naturally) in the first four bars at the opening. (If anybody can remember the theory term for that natural "chorus" or organ-like effect when two strings...overtones?... waiver?...I'd love to hear it, after starting to make this comment I keep thinking 'what is that called' but can't remember for the life of me, maybe it's not the overtones, maybe it's the frequencies cancelling each other out or something, I can't remember, heh)

@@terebrate Yeah, that's the kind of thing I intend...phasing maybe...I could swear there's a more technical term though, but I can't remember. You're definitely on the same page here, maybe it is called phasing, I should look that up since I have this device in hand, huh.

There was no line of sight communication possible between this “control booth” and the artists. I wonder if that affected the process in any way ... guess the mixing board techs would use the standard talk-back links to the tech and possibly the producer stationed in the performance space?
