I always appreciate it when someone who can easily dominate chooses to teach me something instead of working me over even when they are completely capable of doing so. Well done Rob! Keep going Rich, it gets better!

Same! My first ever roll was with a brown belt who let me get him in closed guard and work a bit before the eventual choke. He gave me fundamental tips afterward too. 👊 thanks bro

When I was new I really appreciated it when a colored belt taught instead of smashing me when he could at any time. Now a blue belt, I recently rolled with a white belt on his first day. He was trembling! I told him to relax and that I'm just going to teach him a sweep. When I gently did it to him and talked him through sweeping me, his eyes got wide with a big smile and said, "Whoa!" We are taught you have an opportunity to win, learn or coach every time you roll. I sure do alot of learning!

Saw them but thought poor etiquette to pass whilst slap bumping. Blue belt was definitely going super light

I usually try and go about 40% intensity on new white belts and try to be as technical as possible. Its also a great time to work on new techniques or escapes.

Love the video. With. Ew white belts some people just destroy them. Then the new white belt will not come back and that hurts the owners of the gym and the growth. We all want to have fun 👍 😁 . Again great roll

Yeah I agree! We all get after it pretty hard here but I feel like its a no brainer to read the situation and not torture a new teammate haha Thanks! 🤜🤛

Love these live rolls Rob! Quick question, do you have your phone or camera on a tripod just sitting in the corner recording? Keep up this style of video, very educational and helpful. 👍🏼

Not quite a shaolin, grips are the same but seem like you were trying to sweep him to your right rather than your left. Not sure if the name of it, I’ve heard that sweep being called a dummy before, but obviously that’s way more often used to describe when they stand from closed guard

Cool vid and great attitude rolling with a new white belt. Curious....is this an open mat? Whats with the people just chilling on the wall having a chat like they are having morning coffee?
@robrolls4 ай бұрын
Yo thanks! So this was a Wednesday we do technique 10:15-11. Then 11-12 rolling so ya basically open mat! I feel like this morning crew knows each other very well so a lot of hanging out after 3-4 rolls haha

Ahhh thanks. At our gym, we line up and high rank picks first and down the line we go. Nobody gets to sit out unless there is an odd number. We do this for 8-9 rounds straight. Isn’t sitting out unfair for others rolling straight? Basically sit out 2-3 rounds then go with someone who’s been rolling 😂😂😂
@robrolls4 ай бұрын
@@donblackie ahhh yeah we have some days like that, more competitive classes where we go really hard 1 guy stays in against fresh guys every 2 min and things like that. Technique days in the morning are usually super chill though.
