Has anyone noticed how the "unity piece" on the toa's backs actually tries to imitate a thicker, more natural neck? The piston details are right behind the neck balljoint. Nice. BTW that axle at the end of Tahu's left sword is technically there to connect the weapons into a single, double-bladed pike.

The sword extending might seem weird, but I imagine the sword "blades" being like Jets of flame. So depending on what position it's in shows how much Tahu is fueling the fire. When the blade is retracted the flame is on, but Tahu isn't really feeding it. When it is extended Tahu has almost became a walking inferno, and the fire of the swords if more intensified. Which gives them a longer reach.

17:10 yeah that turning eveything into one self-locking monolith build strongly reminds me old generation Bionicle, especially combiner sets when such trick was used most often 23:00 yeah it reminds me Hewki Inika nad Mhari toa of stone turned yellow, or Pohatu Phantoka with his orange addet to this huge amount of grey.

As for the second comment, that change was made because the brown colored characters didn't sell nearly as well as the others. As far as I know, the red Toa have always sold well and in 2015 that was no different, so I assume this shift in color is something else entirely.

With the nuva masks being spread across mata nui, I feel like the most likely explanation is that they were launched to their locations after the energized protodermis bath. (Or came from the sky like the toa themselves.)

The friction extenders in the ankles are there so that the ankles are not a weak point of the Unity models. I can see them crumpling and flopping over very easily otherwise.

I get that, for sure. I just wish there was a better way of solidifying things without the stiff ankles making the figures footing a little wobbly at times.

Maybe the Creatures are turning the masks gold and trans. When they combine, the Toa gets this power boost. The regular gold represents the regular elemental power, while the trans represents the power of the Creatures. Like last year, the trans was a sign of corruption and draining. But now it's opposite, purification and energizing. The trans part isn't really shown anyway, due to the creature sucking on there heads. So it's like their connection point. They bite but instead of leaching, they energize.

10:30 The translucent gold masks are in fact powered down, I read somewhere (I think it was the 2016 Lego catalog or the website) that their unity masks where only one half of a mask with the creatures head being to other half to complete it.

The color of fire depends on how hot it is. The coldest visible flame would be red while the hottest would be white( because white includes all colors). It has nothing to do with how "pure" it is.

and also depends on the element you are burning, every element has a color code (for example, iron's is red, so if you burn pure iron, it will burn in a reddish tone)

Kinda funny how the equivilant of his 2002 nuva mask looks more like a better version of a normal hau then the 2015 one. Kinda funny because the nuva masks basicly didnt resemble their normal forms at all.

Is it bad that I'm really only interested in Umarak when it comes to this wave's sets? I mean, the others come with amazing parts, don't get me wrong - they just don't look as good as the 2015 Toa sets. That's probably just me, tho, and I'll end up getting a few of them (despite needing to go after 5 more sets from '15 to complete it. I'll have the last 3 Protectors soon enough...)
