MIAthe305 ....you are 100% correct, I drive for a living as a chauffeur in England the S class, AMG, Audi, BMW 7Series, Maybach, and the Rolls Royce Phantom is in a different league to them, and been made by BMW I never known of one breaking down. The wealthy especially from abroad, including young artists would find it an insult to be picked up by no other car, except your USA President who brings his own Cadillac (the Beast) with him.

Closest thing I've driven to this car is either a Town Car or a 2006 era BMW 7-series or Lexus LS, have you driven either of these? If so how do they compare to the Rolls driving experience? I'd honestly like to know to get a rough idea cause I'll likely never get my hands on a Phantom.

MAN_ON_WHEELZ its way way streets ahead of anything I've driven or been a passenger in regarding luxury. I think the closest was the Maybach 62 but as you know they didn't last long!

The Phantom is showing its age, but it still looks impressive and dignified. I just hope the successor retains the great naturally aspirated V12. If they embrace carbon fiber, the Phantom successor should be substantially lighter and thus not need any more power.

Honestly, the Phantom reminds me of a set of a spaghetti western. Looks decent on the outside but when one delves under the skin, it's cheap and poorly constructed. Under those lovely wood veneers is cheap plastic and plastic that's chrome plated. Never liked working on these things. They drove alright, they'd float around like a 70s Cadillac though. For my money, I'd stay with a classic Roller. They're not as nouveau-riche and surprisingly as reliable (that isn't saying a lot).

Charles Wellington lll - The big problem, at least here in the states, is getting the proper mineral oil and seals. The gas spheres aren't hard to come by. I think working on an old one is half experience, half having the correct service manual and wiring diagram for your exact VIN number range. There were so many variations from year to year (especially electrically) that it's easy to screw something up.
