Why would I put 600k into a depreciating asset when I could lease it for 80k/year, take the remaining money and put a down payment on property(ies) earning 25-35% cash on cash return (40-50% real return)? By not paying cash for the car, I made way more money and get a new car more often without the hassle of trying to sell it. If I pay for the first year of lease up front that leaves 520k, which is enough for a down payment on $2.6m worth of real estate. Where I live I can expect to see about $210k/year gross from that investment. After expenses it will be about half that, but still.. More than covers the cost of my lease and I couldn't have done that if I paid cash.

Citroen did this in a bunch of cars lately, like some C4 models. And it is an absolutely great idea imho: Only the ring of the steering wheel moves and then Citroen could install a H shaped airbag at the center, with braces that can hold the driver better when deployed. They can do that only because the position of the capsule is fixed. And some commands at the steering wheels also benefit from that... Volume down is always down for instance. And sure the logo is always up

You can thank Citroen for the Roll's smooth ride - Rolls Royce uses Citreon's hydro pneumatic suspension - they licensed it. So you *don't* have to spend $600k to get a ride this smooth - just find a Citroen DS/SM/XS (which seem to be more rare than a cheap Rolls).

You really can buy used Rolls-Royce with a nice price, but they are old and have a lot of kilometres. Available spare parts are a big challenge. I lived a moment, in which a buyer bought a Rolls-Royce, Turbo S, 6,7 Litre, for a price about € 19.000. The car seemed to be new. I was sitting in the car. It was the Retro-Classic-Fair in Stuttgart-Airport some years ago.
