Apparently Brooker had the character of Philomena down as a dim posho, but Morgan's interpretation won him over. She really has perfect comic timing. I mean, you can't write lines for interviews like that. The bit about bread sauce and the long pause for Jay Raynor to squirm around in - that was Morgan's natural ability and ad libbing. And the shoplifting - I'm still laughing about that.

@@nohooligans888 The thing I want to know is, how does this perverse peeping tom manage to conceal himself so well when he's clearly over 120kg and in a big red and white suit and hat? If I saw a guy fitting that description outside somebody's window, I'd be on 112 faster than you can say knife 😕

Diane Morgan, why aren't you drowning in BAFTA's?? this role is a Huge Mark in Modern Human Entertainment the embodiment of the densest among us, explaining to the rest of the Dense. I often ache from laughter when Philomena is on screen. Thank You.

This kinda schtick has been done numerous times. Even by your own countryman, Sacha Baron Cohen.

@@YoungManDub His stuff is rather lurid though, Philomena is much more subtle. Apart from anything else Diane Morgan is a fabulous deadpan.
