Ohhh, I finally just listened to the Chapel one and this back to back. The Chapel one is so beautiful with the simplicity of a person and their guitar pouring their heart out into a chapel-- it's sobering. But this one with the strings and piano is equally amazing; It creates a different note of emotion. I love them both-- they fit distinct moments of mood for me-- both serious and heartbreaking, but unique to each other. Wow! I absolutely loved it. I really liked the the cymbals and the backing vocals for more emphasis and depth in the mix. The violins added additional poignancy to an already heartbreaking song, but I felt like at the very end they sounded almost hopeful, which I really liked. Romaine, I absolutely love the live version of this song. It pains me to be critical, but for what it's worth, because I know you take time to read and kindly respond to all of the comments, I think you deserve my honest opinion. There is a subtle loss of emotion in your vocals in this version and in a couple of places, the strings felt epic, like the intro of "Game of Thrones" in the emotion they evoked. That fits in a way, but takes away from the feeling of desolation that runs throughout the live version, especially in the guitar solo at the end that cries for all humanity. It's sorely missed here, I think. Anyway, I say all of this with the greatest respect and love of your music, also the highest of hopes for your success. You've written a most beautiful and poignant song. ❤❤❤
