Ok so let me get this straight... Sauret's cadenza is considered as one of the most technically demanding pieces in the whole repertoire and he just... played it perfectly 1,5x time faster than the usual tempo where other virtuosos still aren't able to play it totally in tune. Right. I think I am gonna study something else...

@LouFerl3 жыл бұрын
@@youtuberschannel12 There are several differences between what Kim and Kavakos play so technically, they aren't both "the Sauret cadenza". No problem with that, of course; that's what a cadenza is about. Having said that, what they both play is clearly very similar so a comparison is certainly valid and I agree with you that Kavakos is faster in many sections, including the end. But more importantly than the speed, I will add that Kavakos is also a lot more articulate and more precise. Where Kim goes legato sounds a bit sloppy, while Kavakos' articlation is impeccable. Kim is a fabulously gifted violinist (Eine Kleine Nacht Music, playing (mostly) the whole quartet by himself!) but in the present comparison, Kavakos (and others) do a much better job. In my humble opinion, of course.
