I can't here, but you can always visit our website (WhiteRabbitInstituteOfHealing.com) for more images and a description of both types of chamomile. And a good old fashioned Google search can also help give added help with multiple images:)

Can the roots and/or rhizomes of German chamomile be used for anything?

As far as we know, the medicinal value is in the areal parts of chamomile (i.e. leaves, stems, and flowers). If anyone has more information, we'd love to hear from you!

Can this cross pollinate with other types of flowers? And is there anything that can look similar to chamomile types but not be them? No poison look alikes? Thanks.

The species mayweed (Anthemis)can be confused for chamomile. It can cause allergies in some people so you want to be careful and be sure which plant you are harvesting. Mayweed is very toxic to dogs. Chamomile can cross pollinate with other varieties of chamomile, so best grown in separate flower beds. These are flowers with lots of insect activity, especially German chamomile.

I need to grow chamomile in my yard in zone 9. I don't know which to grow. We have needs for anxiety, insomnia, digestive, nervous. Can you recommend either German or Roman?

Both are excellent for what you mention. You may discover you prefer one over the other. If you have the space, try growing both and find out which works better for you.

My Roman chamomile lasted over the whole year and is growing flowers right now but unfortunately my German chamomile died in the winter.

Can they be grown in the same bed?
@WhiteRabbitInstituteofHealing
@WhiteRabbitInstituteofHealing 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. Yes, they can. However, German chamomile can get quite large so make sure to give it enough space. You also don't want to plant chamomile near mint because it can prevent it from producing the oil that gives mint it's scent. Either chamomile is a good companion plant to bee balm, tomatoes, potatoes, and more.

then I wonder why our medicines are not always very tasty. Perhaps medicine was actually meant to taste sweet!

Wouldn't that be nice:) (Of course, some of the best medicines are bitter...really bitter! Our cultures have become so sweet oriented that we have forgotten the wonderful flavors of bitter which by its nature stimulates digestive enzymes and many other favorable healing processes in the body....) Sweet IS the flavor of nourishment though, so it has its important place when used rightly:)
