Just use the existing rear bungee. Put a pad eye in each post of the cart. Disconnect the bungee at the center cleats. Run the bungee hooks through the scuppers & connect to the pad eyes. Then take the bungee from the rear & clip it to the chair post. Lift & the cart will load itself. Boom done.

That might work but it will wear out your bungee and you'll have to clear the back to use it. Is this how you are doing it now?

@@RomanCastroVlog As with anything that stretches with use it will eventually wear out & need to be replaced. However, it will depend significantly on how frequently it’s stretched & how intense the stretch is. Emptying of the rear deck isn’t required. You can get creative & clip the bungee to the top of your seat or crate. Whatever, generates the necessary tension.

There are some good ideas here, I wouldn't be surprised if a Hobie engineer copies this or some variation of it. As long as you don't put the kayaks weight down on the scupper cart before the cart poles are perfectly aligned, I've head this can cause the scupper holes to crack. But from watching your technique this doesn't seem to be a problem for you.

Good video! Thanks...I have a question about your PVC on the garage floor. What size is the PVC and why is it important to lay PVC down for the Kayak and not putting it on the bare floor with the blanket?

Hi GARY! Hobie wants you to store it upside down so the weight of the kayak doesn't flatten the roundness of the hulls. I put it on the PVC pipes so it puts the pressure on the more rigid part of the kayak and leaves the round part of the hull suspended. Another thing now that I've installed a sounder on this Hobie the 3 in 1 transducer hangs down past the hull so it also keeps it off the ground and without any weight on it. Thanks for your question. Are you storing your PA on the floor?

I'm on a sup currently and waiting for my yak to arrive in 2 weeks. It's not a hobie just an inflatable pedal yak and Im tired of waiting..

Hi Chris, It's an outdoor patio mat made from recycled bottles I bought from the COSTCO outdoor yard section. Since it is plastic the kayak slides right on it and it doesn't get roughed up on my line-x. It cost me about $18. I use one in my truck, one on my garage floor where I store the PA14 and one I can roll out when I workout in the garage. :)

You're working way to hard on this. Try replace the other side of the cart with a pad eye instead of messing around running the bungee thru the cart frame. Then use a 3'ish piece of 1/4" bungee with 2 s biners. Then drop the s biners thru the scupper holes and clip them to the pad eyes then just pull the cart into place.

That's a good idea. Do you have it setup like that? How do you tension the bungee? Do you hook it onto something after the clips are in place?

An obvious benefit to using these bungee "S" 'biners would be the fact that you could transport the cart in the kayak while on the water and during truck transport with its cart resting over the scupper holes in the typical inverted position.

I’ve been trying this with my 2021 pa12. I broke a sbiner, switched them out for a j clip and broke one of them too. If i go to larger clips/snaps, they wont fit into scupper holes. Help!!

Hi Micah! Sounds like there is too much pressure on the ties. Remember, the only thing the bungees are doing is aligning the kart. The bungees are not meant to lift the kart off the floor. They only lift the poles and line them up. Once they are lined up the kart goes in as you bring down the kayak. Does that help?
