I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT MATTHEW CRAWLEY INTENTIONALLY HAD HIMSELF KILLED OFF TO LEAVE THE DOWNTON ABBEY SERIES, AND JOIN ANOTHER FILM ADVENTURE. HOW SAD IS THAT FOR ALL HIS DOWNTON ABBEY FANS........VERY SAD INDEED.

@@imisstoronto3121 Actually, he followed his heart and his mind. When they all signed up for Downton Abbey, they got 3-year contracts. Dan loved and is grateful for his time at Downton Abbey, it opened many doors for him. And while he has had some forgettable roles, he has done exactly what he wanted to do. AND -- he has had some critically acclaimed roles and is only now beginning to reap the rewards of hard work. Now, in 2020, powerhouse CAA signed him and you can be assured better quality scripts will come his way. He has proven to be versatile and can play romantic leads, comedy and musicals. And his Audiobooks are incredible. He speaks fluent French and German and his outstanding performance in Eurovision has really caught the attention of not only the public, but industry insiders. He is finally going to go to the next level. His scene-stealing performance in Eurovision should net him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor -- he carried the movie by himself!

Lauren Stich Honestly the thing is I was and still super upset about Matthew but I’ve never heard of him in anything tho. I know he’s in things but I’ve never was interested 🤷🏼‍♀️

Michelle says if they would have met in season 1... I'm actually glad they didn't.She can see with open eyes that although he is financially helping her family,he is overbearing,bullying,and does have a mean streak as well.If Robert hadn't talked to her I think,well i hope,she'dve dumped him on her own.

Personally, I wanted Mary to stay single, at least longer than she did beyond the end of the series. Then a sequel could come along that after years running Downton with Tom, she'd realize she'd fallen in love with him. Not like her passionate feelings for Matthew, but still a strong, sturdy love based on respect, a mutual love for Downton, and shared experiences and goals.
