In 1993 SquareSoft and Akitosho Kawazu's SaGa team released a trailblazing dynastic nonlinear JRPG called Romancing Saga 2 in Japan. The game's sales numbers in Japan alone exceeded 1.5 million copies -- and astronomical amount for the time even when compared with Final Fantasy IV's sales numbers.
Square Enix recently announced a remake to this game on the June 2024 Nintendo Direct, Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven. In this video I talk about about the original Romancing SaGa 2's unique mechanics and quirks. Then I talk about things I noticed in the Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven announcement trailer.
