This video is great. Especially since Mike just added RDL to my program and I had no idea it was so different to a stiff leg deadlift. Thanks for the awesome work!

RDL's are my favourite and only hamstring isolation exercise I do.
@bigbobabc123
@bigbobabc123 4 жыл бұрын
It’s not a hamstring isolation exercise. You’re also not training your hamstring properly - part of your hamstring is only worked by leg curls so if you don’t do them you’re missing out.

How far apart should you have your feet? I'd imagine there's an appropriate *range* of foot spacing and too wide would shorten the ROM and the effectiveness of the exercise. I squat with a wide stance (anything more narrow feels uncomfortable to me) but can deadlift with a more narrow stance. Would the RDL ideally look more like a conventional deadlift stance?

Thank you. I must say i still feel my lower back even though i follow all the cues. Is it normal? I am.not rounding my back i am using only my limited hamstring Rom. I dont feel a very good stretch in my hamstrings , should i load more weight perhaps?
@maxk880
@maxk880 4 жыл бұрын
Lower the weight until you feel the stretch really good, then lift back up. Some lower back felt is completely normal. I have a good friend who is on PEDs, his lower back got so sore after a RDL set he had to lie down
@rockyevans1584
@rockyevans1584 Жыл бұрын
Definitely need to work on the technique, lower the weight and really focus on keeping an arched low back, shoulders pulled back, as you go down your trying to touch your asshole to the corner of the wall and ceiling behind you, you should feel your hams ripping out from under your glutes. Try difference stance widths, I find a slightly wider stance helps me target the hams best

@@ptcollective I just lift in Chucks/Vans and don't know squat about squat shoes. Do they have high heels like weightlifting shoes? That's the only thing I could imagine would be inappropriate here, since, indeed, with RDLs I know some athletes actually create antiweightlifting shoes, elevating their *toes* on small plates, etc. to feel the hamstring stretch more dramatically. If squat shoes are different from weightlifting shoes, what contraindicates them?
@ptcollective

I need your help man... I deal with horrific knee pain in my right knee and I’m only 23. I tore my acl in my right leg about five years ago and I’m told I have paterall Tendonitis. They say to make my gluts and hamstrings and everything stronger but I can’t do any exercises with about so much knee pain like this one...

Instructions a little confusing. Should go through full exercise with full ROM a few times after the instructions so that you can demonstrate what you just finished discussing in video. I had to search another video for demonstration to figure out what you were talking about. This video is good if you already generally know what the lift is and are wanting to work on your technique but a little confusing otherwise.
