You get used to eat sunflower seeds in time by practice. You apply pressure with the front teeth in the side with the edges, it cracks and You apply a bit more pressure to spread the two sides appart then with the thong You get the seed out. The seed îs how chewy, If it îs they are old and bot very good. It should be cruncky. And Gusto îs a brand name, the name of the product îs actually PUFULETI 😉
@mariamihaelaiamandi91594 жыл бұрын
If he also offered them a pickled cucumber salad with "fasole bătută" (beaten beans), and someone told them that it wouldn't be bad to mix eggplant salad with chopped onion ,(not garlic)... You're so cute ... 🤗 The ones in the bag are fluffy (pufuletzi or pufuleți), and not "Gusto". "Gusto" is a name given by the manufacturer. And in Great Britain you can find Romanian grocery stores. You can also find them on the net if you want.

The husk is just to provide the saltiness and a glance of a husk taste, they shouldn't be eaten since we think that the husks are bad for your body.They're very addicting,once you start eating you can't really stop until you finish the whole package. After the husk is a little bit crushed between your teeth you have to take the interior with the tongue and then spit(or preferably take out the husk from your mouth using your hand and putting them in a bowl to dispose them properly later into a bin)

They have a special technique to eat the sunflower seeds. My wife shown me but I never managed to eat them as quick as they do. It always take me a while to finish my handful while she eats it damn fast. The covrigi (spell ko-vri-dj' the final i is spelled very low) aren't really bretzel. I know German bretezl very well and it's something else. Sweeter and the inside has a different texture. I never succeeded in redoing them at home, always had the German version in the end so I think the bakeries put a special ingredient. I tried every "like at the bakery" recipes you may find on internet, never had something like that. Everytime I go to Romania I need to eat that. At first I thought the Bucharest ones were the best, not so sure today. However the very best are those you can buy inside the gara de nord, near the small supermarket. The ultimate ones. Only eat them freshly baked. "Gusto" is the brand. The name is pufuleți (poo-foo-let's). Don't accentuate on p f and l.

The Romanian pancakes (big, round and very thin, therefor allways well baked, no raw dough taste like in the small & thick American style) are usual eaten with jam (strawberry or apricot jam, seldom with cotrage cheese + sugar), the ones with salty cheese are a rare (because most Romanian don't like it), and mostly sold in Bucharest. There are many more dishes to try in Romania, as: "sarmale" (never order term too dry, their juice must remain in the plate), preferable in sour cabbage leafs, not old style grapes plant leafs, than "ciorba de vacuta" (kind of cow soup with many ingredients), "papansi" etc. The fluffy "Gusto" maize & cheese 10 pence "cheeto's" are something which many foreigners got addicted to, like the Dutch girl (married to a Romamian "strange" boy..) of the "PawPrint Pair" youtube account, who buys these "Gusto" by the barrils or so, never only 1 bag.

Romanian here, if ever you get back to Romania do not meet the sweet-side of things. We have quite a lot of French inspired deserts as we used to massively exchange culture between the 2 world wars with France. I would recommend the eclairs, mmmm As well do not miss out on Ciorba which comes in different types of favours: chicken, veal, bean, pork, tripe(quite traditional) . They are practically animal stock with veg and sometimes thin noodles. For second course I would recommend Bulz which is a ball of polenta stuffed with sheep matured cheese that should be roasted on wood fire. Most of our traditional second courses are pork based and come in the shape of stews, but then again you could try Sarmale which are marinated cabbage leaf rolls of minced pork and onion and a bit of rice. They go well with polenta can creme fraiche ;) Enjoy!

Glad I missed the Gusto though😆 I’m currently on special eating plan to reduce inflammation (neck pain) Ya killing me...but seriously, keep enjoying! Carpe Diem! Jane

I heard recently from a documentary that all animal products, incl eggs and dairy cause inflammation, so, therefore, a vegan diet should reduce it. I haven't tried it for that purpose so I wouldn't know if it's true.

Watching your latest video made me realise I'd missed this one. Notifications failed me. I remember seeing some policemen in Bangkok eating sunflower seeds and it looked like they were removing or spitting out the husk of the sunflower seeds.

Yes we figured out in the end that you should dehusk them but man it's difficult - we ended up feeding them to the birds!!!!!

Hi . Our parents use to cocking zacusca and keep it in over the winter period in jar . Its nice to spread that on ă slice of bread when outside is -20 degreds temperature. Covrigi was started to be made on comunism period , its been made with big pieces of salt on the side of it and its only sold in the morning , keep in ă crate and been sold in a verry crowdy areas , on cross-streets at hand of people wich goes to work . The covrig today are a big bussines and its containing sugar and even cemicals, have nothing the same with covrigi back in the days, no same texture , not same flour, sometimes just shape. I like pancake with cheese and soucream and parsley so much , fresh made . Gusto pufuleti are cheap and tasty . I like your couple and i wish you have fun visiting Romania .

Gusto in fact is the brand, but the product is "Pufuleți". And the sunflower seeds are from a Hungarian company. Also Hanoo Loo is actually Hanoo Loo Manook. I'm glad that you didn't mentioned the Australian ginger beer as traditionally Romanian beer.

We salt the sunflower seeds so when you pop it in your mouth it's not bland but you're supposed to eat the seed only :) also, clătite uriașe basically translates to huge pancake. Our pancakes are basically somewhat like crapes but a bit thicker, the most traditional one I'd say is with homemade jam, not cheese necessarily

Sunflower seeds - you should have gone for Nutline, those are the best. Corn puffs are alright ...I hope you got the chance to taste "sarmale" and "tochitura" and definitely some "prăjituri" :D Also, not traditionally Roamnian but a "shaorma" would be good to try if you ever go back (Dristor - with garlic sauce!). Thank you guys for trying to remember all these words which are not very easy to pronounce I guess. I hope you had a good time

Hahaha the sunflower seeds had me dying xd You put the whole thing on in your mouth, crack it open, eat the seed, suck on that delicious salty shell, and spit it out :) Once you become an expert you don't need your hands anymore ;) FYI, you de-husk them in your mouth with your back teeth (align it vertically and crack it slightly) then your tongue does the rest, it's a whole technique haha
@JamesyboyExperiment5 жыл бұрын
Adrian - thanks so much for the lesson....we sure needed it!!!! We got so confused by the whole thing...now we know 😊

Gusto is the name of the brand.. "Poofoolets" is the product. They are totaly natural, without any flavour or chemical adds, made from maze, sunflower oil and salt.
@JamesyboyExperiment5 жыл бұрын
So cool - very tasty 😎😍
@smurfk21445 жыл бұрын
Eating sunflower seeds is the main technique you want to master. Is really fulfilling and helpful in so many situations. You need to go though cracking them open in your hand, cracking them in between your front teeth, cracking them with the behind teeth, but also throwing them from a distance into your mouth. Spitting the shell is also mandatory, but you must learn to spit just a half, so some part of it will always be stuck to your lip somewhere. Also, if the ground before you does not start to blacken from all the shells, you're doing it wrong.
@JamesyboyExperiment5 жыл бұрын
👍 Cheers mate. I think we need to keep practising😜

The traditional covrig is unsalted dough, first boiled, then dipped in salt flakes and poppy seeds and baked. It tastes much better than the western pretzel, but apparently is not made in the traditional way anymore.

It's pufuleti not Gusto(a brand). And not with the husk on ! And next time get the really black ones without any stripes, those one are super nice and a bit oily. The salt on the husk in put on before baking so it goes through the husk into the seed.

@@JamesyboyExperiment These ones without salt is where's it at !
