Oh my goodness, if there is something I absolutely love, it's salami. I'm an Italian girl so I'm only used to Italian salami's but I'm going to look at various stores here in California to see if I find any Romanian salami. Then I will let you know what I think. I was literally suffering through this video. My mouth was salivating big time. Great video!

The funny thing is the salami can change because of the producer also. Those that are pre-packed aren’t always the best. Next time try from the fresh aisle (the one that they slice it in front of you).

Sibiu salami it's definitely an acquired taste like blue cheese since both of them use a special mold and intricate crafting processing. It seems like you guys aren't really familiar with raw dry salami and prefer the "cooked" ones

In almost all major markets in Romania are meat and salami products from farmers. It is a company called "Sibiu" or "Sibieni". Ask for salami from Sibiu. I saw that you take food from the supermarket which often does not have the right taste. Find a store with products made by peasants. Those products taste delicious.

I like Salam sasesc, Salam cu sunca, Salam Victoria. I don't buy it wrapped in plastic because the slices are so thin and I can't feel the taste properly. Better to buy them in the original pack and make the slices thin or thick as you prefer or buy them from the salamy section where they can make the slices as you like.

Hello, friends! I am living in San Diego for ten years( see your sweater). For 48 years I was in Romania. During Ceausescu’s time, Slam de Sibiu was the best. I did not eat too much because I couldn’t find it, but every time I was tasting it it was good. After Revolution I did not eat it as well… so just a few times… and only memories. May be they are not doing it anymore in the way they used to do it. As I remember, for school my mother was buying Salam de vara( we could find it, but we restrictions) and Parizer ( like Baloney…?!)I liked it at that time. I would eat it? May be with some white cheese, tomatoes and good, fresh bread. The bread was so good when I was young. I am happy to see that you are trying at least and make a very accurate comparison. During Ceausescu's time Salam de Sibiu was made with horse meat not pork. That's why was the best.

I love the Sergiana Poiana Marului salamis they sell in their own shops (not the sliced, prepacked ones) you must have seen them, they're from Brasov. As for the Salam de Sibiu, it's one of my comfort foods, with boiled eggs and coke (or pepsi) :) though if you got the one made by Agricola Bacau, not a fan of those.

Sibiu salami is god when you cobine it with bred, tomatos, cheese. Actualy every salami is better when you combine with somethig 😀 ps. Salam Sinaia is the best 😀

OMG! Salam de Sibiu is my favorite and I found it here in NY, too! But...there is always a "but"! I wish I could tell you more about a folklore story what the "Salam de Sibiu" is/was really made of!! But, I rather NOT... For your own curiosity, try to do a thorough reseach and ask people around!!! You'll be surprised... Love your videos! Love your honesty!! Keep it up!

Salam de Sibiu has a long history, basically was considered to be a delicacy because it was made of horse meat and it was one of the only salamy in the old years that had more meat then soya. It was expensive and hard to find. But the producer does matter a lot when it comes to this particularly salamy.

Funny video, you should also try Salam Victoria and all the varieties of parizer [a kind of baloney, or Bologna, derived from mortadella], best served on a newspaper with mustard in overalls. Seriously, parizer, as cheap and unpretentious as it is, can be very good in various combinations, there are turkey versions, peppers versions. I ate it at a corporate event with my boss, who's a very rich Romanian businessman, and we left aside the Greek fish fresh from the grill for this salami, eaten with a large loaf of bread torn up by hand :))

I will highly recommend you to buy from local shop (farmers ) or market , like the Obor market in sector 2 bucharest , there is a bigger variety of products , there salami from sibiu region is one of the best and the chesse as well , as for the beverage you should try moldovian red wine (like from Iasi and Vaslui) , for Tuica -Vodka (Maramures ) , and fish mainly the Danube region , the recipes are just to die for , and for the meat sector the dry meat is one of the beast the flavor thend to be sometimes cherrys or rose type of taste.

Even if I don't eat any kind of salami, the best is Sibiu Salami. Read the label so it doesn't contain many chemical E-uri, but almost all types of salami are full of chemicals, I'm sorry about that, eat a little and good.

Don't worry guys, I hate Salam de Sibiu as well. I usually hate dry salty salami. My favorite is and has always been Salam de Vara (Summer salami) - that is just the best. This video gave me an appetite so I'll go and fix myself a salami sandwhich tight now :)) Also, you can give Salam Sandwhich Toast from Fox, that one is also very good. As you probably saw many times, Romania has A LOT of meat products of all variations in the supermarkets. Sunca, Salam, Muschi, Carnati, Mici, Kaiser, Parizer, Crenvursti and many many others. You'll never run out of meat here :))

In the video there was a salami named "Salam Trapez" - It's the one not in circular size. Check out the one with the margin of peper or other condiments, in my opinion that's the best salami type.

Well, traditionally “Salam de Sibiu” was made in Salonta, a town 30 km from Oradea, and 20 years back that was the real deal. I don’t think thay make it quite the same nowadays, and the stuff from Agricola Bacău rather immitates that taste better than orher brands… The now extinct salam de sibiu made in Salonta was my absolute standard for dry cured salami, as it was far far better than any chorizo or whatever they sell you today in Spain.

Sibiu salami rulz. But,again ,it's an acquired taste. Sinaia salami is pretty averege. Fun fact: even through is called Sibiu,it was first made in Sinaia,in the early 20's,by an italian charcutier, named Dozzi. So,if you ask some old chap about the salamy factory, he will point to Dozzi factory

U made laugh... especially the girl next to Mom... As a Romanian, yes, Salam Sinaia is good for all tatstes and is closer the the italian SALAMI (which is most used in most refined pizzas). That is why you all love it. And... yes! Definitely they changed the original recipe for Salam de Sibiu. It had to have a persistent taste of smoke and aromatic herbs and, indeed, very salty. I personally do not like Sibiu Salami, I live in the southern part of Romania. The original recipe was made in the center of Romania, and there, life is a bit saltier. But now they kind of added something synthetic to the recipe so that more and more ppl could like it, still, i dont like it.

Please eat salami with bread! Who eats it simple? Add cheese, cucumbers or red peppers. Many Romanian foodstuffs are made to be eaten with bread. Please buy fresh bread.
