I just purchased a Yugoslavian M57 Tokarev and I had a choice between the M57 and a Romania TTC. I like the larger handgrip, the extra round and the captured guide rod. Thanks for the video.

М70, М92.... Просто красавцы.

Translation of ^^: The Serbs take any weapon and bring it to the ideal. Their weapons are always very high quality and often much more convenient and high quality compared to the original. They took the K98 Mauser and produced the M48. They took the Soviet TT and produced the M57, which is actually more convenient in the hand compared to the original, and there is a fuse. They took the German MG42 and produced the M53, which retained all the advantages of the German, but the rate of fire was less. You can’t even speak badly about Yugoslav AKs. The quality is just great. M70, M92 .... Just handsome.

I have a great original m57 that has no safety other than the intended half cock hammer safety. Its a beautiful piece and shoots like a cannon. I have a norinco and a polish tokarev as well and of all mine i much prefer the zastava yugoslav m57. They are just wonderful firearms.

hi good video. you did miss one more advantage of the "Yugo" m57. The Firing pin is retained browning style instead of a cross pin. It is much easier to replace a firing pin on the m57 as opposed to the other toks.

The later production Zastava Toks are rough as a corncob! Got rid of both of them and kept my milsurp Radom and Cugir Tokarevs-FWIW, the Russians copied an early Browning '03 pocket pistol and basically improved upon it with the Tokarev TT-33-John in Texas

Last year, I was lucky enough to be able to purchase an "excellent condition" Yugo M57 with NO bullshit aftermarket safety drilled into it. It had been imported with a glock style trigger safety, which frankly did nothing to make it safer.... but it beat import laws!!! :) :) I then got an new-old-stock M57 trigger for like $20..... Now I have a badass, about as original as you can get in the US, awesome condition, no BS safety having Yugo M57. Sweet. I haven't even shot it yet... but I should, RIGHT?!

Yes, I did get it from Classic. I totally scored on that thing. I think that the Yugo is a better gun, 9 rds vs 8 in the Bulgarian. I am sure that the internet will correct me if I am wrong. No matter which version you get, they are awesome, inexpensive, and a smoking fast round..... so cool!!

@derekneumann

Yes. That is my opinion. The Yugo holds an extra round, longer grip. You can do some re-blueing to the slide and such if you deem it necessary due to scratches. I re-blued an entire Makarov once, and it turned out great, and I am not a gunsmith. I say get the Yugo, I think it's just a better option.

To each his own. i own 3 Tokarev's TT-33, M57 and a Romanian TTC. honestly for me one doesn't out perform another. i grab and shoo the TTC probably more than the others, one extra round does not make or break it for me. all it does for me is a little extra grip, but not a wow factor by any means. one is just as deadly and as accurate as the other. Performance they all are about the same no big differences between them shooting wise. i actually side carry one or the other, randomly daily. But if i see one for sale at the right price am i going to say ohhh that's not a M57, or that not a TTC or that's not a TT-33 i don't want it.......Hell no.... i will buy and trust any model for the right price no questions asked on model. And I'm always looking for them.

I just picked up a 1941 Russian TT33 with no importer “name” marks or external Safety Added (very low prize, I will tell you in the email). Is there a way I can send you photos - can you share any knowledge you have. The Serial Number is Two Cyrillic letters followed by four numbers. Grip panels have the Star with CCCP on both sides. Top of the slide has the serial number again, also what looks like a small STAR and then the year 1941. The bluing is very nice (small bluing wear mark on both sides of the end of the slide), looks like it was put in a drawer and forgotten. Thank you.

While the Polish models have the best fit and finish out of all of them IMO, the T57 is the best to shoot and work on since it has the captured recoil spring. The longer grip fits my hand way better and you get an extra round. The machine work is pretty rough but it doesn't impact function.

The tt30 was not based on the 1911, it was an improved Browning 1900 and likely had John Brownings hands on the design, perhaps with a touch of Russian vodka via Tokarev himself. Also, many M57s came with the safety by design-not cheesy American retrofit like the other tt pistols are butchered with.

I used my Romanian Tokarev in my LTC class here in TX. At that time (late 2016) TX LTC rules required one to qualify with a handgun "32 caliber or larger" so technically, my Tokarev was "under-qualified" even though it's power outclasses many handguns "32 or higher." Fortunately, I convinced my LTC instructor that "it's really close to .32 bullet-diameter-wise" by comparing empty .32ACP and 7.62x25 case-mouths (almost identical openings) and he allowed me to use it for the shooting part of the LTC permit class. I hope he could see when I was firing it was PLENTY powerful despite it not being "32 or larger" caliber. Later on, TX changed it's law and allowed one to use ANY caliber (even .22LR) for the class...so I guess I'm okay. ;-) -- BR
